Veblen goods are items for which demand inceeases even as the price increases, in contradiction to the normal demand-supply theory. They're also typically high-quality goods that are a status symbol. Veblen goods are generally sought after by affluent consumers. Examples include luxury cars, luxury watch brands, even some sneakers etc!

I haven't read a lot from Junji Ito, but Uzumaki is such a good book. Creepy, intriguing and easy to go through. I highly recommend it, and I'm going to get a copy of Cat Diary.
