Shorikai is a monster. I bought the buckle up commander deck as a begginer. It was able to outclass most of the other starter deck and is currently the winning deck of my collection against friend (we upgraded our decks a little bit, which for shirokai meant only to add some control blues, not even the stapled ones, just some that were lying around in my collection...)

Maelstrom is probably one of my favourites to play, it’s just so explosive and somewhat brain dead

I’ve seen Shorikai outvalue everyone at a table from really early in a game, it’s a seriously strong commander!

One thing I learned only yesterday is Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain. Is difficult to handle. The sheer amount of card draw from merely casting spells (granted it isn't all spells) can quickly get to solutions. Though it could just be how the deck was built when I witnessed its horrors.

Tip for 9-Fingers, make sure you have a couple ways to get lands out of your graveyard. It feels real bad when your entire wincon gets shut down by a single land-removal discard or mill effect. Thankfully, that’s not hard to do in these colors.

As a Maelstrom player, I’m glad he was mentioned

Athreos shroud-veiled could be on this list too, hard to remove like purphoros, but they also put coin counters on creatures which is destruction/exile protection, meaning you need multiple pieces of removal to take care of the board, and if you see resourceful defense out, it’s panic time

Don’t forget about go-shintia of life’s origin. You might not even win with attacking, just have any of the red shrines and get them to trigger a few times

A buddy of mine ran a Darien deck once. He was very unhappy with me dropping a Massacre Wurm into it.

Change your layout we can’t read the cards!

Shorikai is an ARTIFACT. Hint, hint. That said it's ability gives you an absolutely bonkers amount of value.

Norin the Wary, the only ways to get rid of him are static, activated and triggered abilities.
Granted, he is not going to kill you in combat, but decks built around that commander know how to take advantage of it

I run the genesis engine. Good wincon get intruder alarm and a mana dork, if it taps for 2 mana even better cause you build up tons of free mana.
Crew the engine and tap the dork to tap the engine, token comes in they both untap. You now can draw everything. Then dig for lab maniac.

As someone who made a Shorikai deck: definitely agree on the “respect it” part. It’s in great colors for artifacts, has a large amount of support from both the deck it’s printed in and just Neon Dynasty in general, and is not what people tend to expect. Wraths are also almost worthless against the deck.

One of the best ways to deal with Darien is massacre worm that I've found so far

Love your videos in general, but the 'shorts' often make it hard to read the cards (due to overlay text from YouTube)... it would be nice to have the 'TRICKY' text drop down from the top instead of bottom up, leave it at the bottom, and then have the cards appear on top to keep them clearly visible

Keene's best feature is that people expect a Maze's end win and get thrown off when you take them out with commander damage

Can confirm my wanderer deck is a bit of a local menace. Sure I'll just cascade into a nyxbloom ancient and clever impersonator on turn 4. Seems legit.

Add Sefris to this list, if you let her stick around and keep venturing into the dungeon. It doesn't look like much at first but the incremental value gets silly quick.

I personally play Shorikai as an infinite card draw engine with any mana dork/ashnod’s altar and intruder alarm. Makes infinite mana and tokens too, lets you win with anything from approach of the second sun to halo fountain with ease. It works with thoracle too but I refuse to stoop so low.
