My favorite feminist podcast talked about forth wing recently - similarly to what you say. I loved how they talked about the issues the book has - but also acknowledged that it's extremely readable and funny (even if the author didn't mean some things to be funny😅)

It was entertaining enough to get through but I cannot lie I can’t hardly remember it since I read it. I’ve read other books that still live rent free in my head years or months later such as Cinda Williams Chima’s Seven Realms series, Throne of glass obviously, Ascendant by Michael R Miller which is my current obsession and I admit I bought 3 copies of it to give to family and friends for Christmas gifts this year.

This is exactly how I felt about it! Not the best written but very enjoyable. Straight into fast paced plot, very fun and entertaining. Unfortunately I was disappointed with iron flame as it lost that speed and had a lot of filler.

One hundred percent! It’s an objectively bad book on so many levels, but Yarros knows how to pace a story. It makes it so much fun to read. I actually think by the end it’s too pacy, for my taste at least. There’s no breathing space in the narrative for the reader to catch a breath. By the end, I was exhausted 🤣

I’m sure there are many logical sensible well thought out reasons to support her opinion but I just can’t bring myself to hate these books. Dragons x magic =❤️❤️❤️

Oooook sure Forth Wing is fun it is a ACADEMY and they are to KILL each other at any time for DRAGONS and sure having horny dragons in you mind is not creepy like Edvard spying on sleeping Bela, yes yes, insted of being a ugly-duckling-story or a poor-girl marring into rich [vampire] family (like a princess) and having to worry what people is going to talk about being hiched at the age of 19 [you know that pregnancy rumor] we have a violent Violet whose sister drops by 40 min befor the BRIDGE TEST to dress her and pack the bag for her [because she was learning it all wrong in the last 6 months...that is what the first 29 pages told me].
So, to conclude: The way reading is subjective it turns out being bored or irritated is also subjective 🤣.
I would like if you made a SPOILER video as I am not touching that book again.

Atleast in book 2 Xaden stopped referring to Violet as "Violence" in every other sentence. We get it dude. You gave her a nickname. It stopped being funny after the 3rd time you used it. It's less in book 2. Thank God
