The Sacred Twenty Eight was a list of wizarding families still considered truly pure blood by the 1930s. The Potter House, was a pure blood family for centuries yet was excluded from the list..the question is..why? Why Was The Potter Name Excluded From The Sacred Twenty Eight?

LILY WAS BORN AFTER THE LIST WAS WRITTEN! The list was written PRE 1930s, decades before her birth!! Lily Potter has nothing to do with the list!

I understand that many people notice that the Potter family wasn't in the sacred 28, but has anyone noticed that the Moody family is not on this list?

Is no one taking into account the fact that Harry's family line came from the Peverell family? Hermione states in the last book that the Peverell name ended in the male line. A female Peverell married into the Potter line. The Potters may have been pureblood, but maybe not Ignotus's part of the Peverell line.

It's also interesting to note that the Crabbe and Goyle families were also excluded from the list.

Technically Ron and Harry were related, because all pure bloods were related, potters are pure bloods are all related

If that was the case with the Potters, then why are the Weasleys there. Wouldn't it be the same to be a blood traitor?

Hagrid also said that really; no pure bloods exist.

Part 2. "No wizard or witch alive today that's not half blood or less!"

Also Potter wasn't the only family name omitted: so were the Gamps, Goyles, Crabbes, Moodys (and possibly others we don't know)

Charlus Potter also married Dorea Black around the time the list was created. They had one confirmed son on Pottermore. Dorea was not disowned for marrying a Potter - most interesting, when you consider the Sacred 28 didn't include the Potters.

If the Potter family was excluded from the list for having a common Muggle surname, why did they not omit Abbott and Parkinson?

I could be possible that Cantankerus Nott probably excluded some pureblooded families just because he didn't like them. His name is Cantankerus after all. :P

What would have happened if Hermione chose Krum instead of Ron?

So, just like in our world, money talks. That's why the Malfoys stayed on.

The Sacred 28 list required every branch of the family to be pureblood Harrys ancestry directly might be pureblood but you have to take into the account other Potter siblings who married half bloods or muggles

28 is 7x4. 7 the magic number and 4 the number of Hogwarts houses

Shouldn't Lupin be on this as Remus' dad was a pure blood and the list was made before he married

How messed up that would be if Filch's family was apart of The Sacred 28

Like Sirius said in The Order of the Pheonix
"Every pure-blood family is related in one way or the other"

i always assumed "pureblood" could be re-earnt but the sacred 28 were 100% pure. e.g harry is half blood and ginny in pureblood. i do not know what albus severus would be classed as but assuming he had a child with a pureblood, that child i would think would be pure blood, with 2 generations of wizardry behind him. as such, maybe harrys great great great grandparent was a muggleborn. but james time, the iniage was back to pureblood, but the "sacred" was lost forevermore

Video idea: What if Fudge and the Ministry realised Harry/Dumbledore was telling the truth about Voldemort's return sooner. personally I feel this creates loads of questions for example: If he/they had would Sirius still have died? would Umbridge still have been made a DADA teacher to give Ministry control over Hogwarts? would the ministry still have fallen to Voldemort, at least as soon as it had? would mad-eye still have died? etcetera
