Came here to refresh how to do this, at least for a horse. Have done it with plenty of other animals... Same deal basically. The vet had me show him what I did when I took him in but apparently I was pointing the end too far up and he said keep it horizonal and press the whole thing upwards. Also he mentioned something about air space in there? He kinda lost me at that point bc my boy was sick and I was working hard to not be emotional. Anyways this was helpful, as always. Thank you.

I've had that happen to me and it's not a good experience, I don't know how horses take it. At the stables I volunteer at, only one kicks during temperature taking, so he's given feed to eat meanwhile.
