Arguably one of the best known and popular western character actors was Jack Elam. He always added to every movie he was in. Memorable and entertaining. Weather in a comedic or villainous role.
Today we will take a look at some westerns that were his most iconic, he made way too many to fit in one video, so let’s call this a start!

One of the great character actors. He, like so many others, was reliable, entertaining, versatile, and made our movies much the better for their presence.

Loved that guy. Watch him any time I get this. Wonder if he knew how much his fans loved him.

Two of Elam's' greatest assets were his ability to create many different facial expressions and different voices. Both of these help him to nail the characters he was portraying. He had the ability to raise any film he played in up a few notches. Great character actor.

Also loved him in Once Upon A Texas Train with Willie Nelson, Richard Widmark and a number of the great old western actors!

How could you not love Jack Elam? He was in every western. If you don't see him. He'll be along soon. A very dear man. Very easy to love him.

It should be noted that Elam related the short tale “Who is Jack Elam ?” on a George Plimpton tv special produced to help publicize the John Wayne film Rio Lobo. i saw both the tv special & the film back around 1970. It’s a very funny short story but I must admit I have since heard various versions of the gag but featuring other well known actors. I have no idea if it was originally created by Jack Elam or if he stole it from someone. I like to think he stole it, it fits his outlaw image.

One can't help but wonder how, with his eye problem, Elam managed to join the military for WW II
