F1 Drivers & Teams FURIOUS At F1 After SHOCKING ANNOUNCEMENT!

■ Formula 1’s CEO, Stefano Domenicali, has elaborated on a lot of new changes that are going to be implemented in the sport, and some of the fans and the drivers aren’t going to be particularly happy about it. With the most controversial one being the reverse grids, it opens up an opportunity for the drivers to go as slow as possible in order to have a better starting position during the sprint race, and with the increased number of sprint races that Domenicali is aiming at right now, we might be looking at more protests from F1 drivers. Furthermore, the calendar seems to be ‘expanding’ to Africa as well, and with another potential circuit that we’d see in the foreseeable future, could a traditional race go in the history of the sport?

Absolutely ridiculous. Domellicali needs to go. As do Liberty Media.

The reverse grid seems like a very, very bad idea...

Dropping spa? Its one of the last one that should go in my opionon. Great racing at that track. Tracks like imola, hungaroring and monco can get tossed in the bin due to it beeing to narrow for the ever growing f1 cars.

Rowanda? Drop SPA? Crazy. If you want to go back Africa then go to South Africa - Kialami

If they insist on this reverse quali and sprints. One quali. Sprint reverse order. Race actual order.

Attempting to game the sprint race can be solved by having the Saturday sprint serve as qualifying for the Sunday race.

why not introduce sprinklers, blue shells, and swords and shields, ... F1 racing will turn to F1 entertainment

I can see reverse grid order working if they had one qualification determine the order for both the sprint and main event. There is still a clear incentive to be fast since it sets you up for the full distance race (which gives the most points), while the reverse grid sprint gives an opportunity for lower ranked teams fight for minor points. It also eliminates the need for a second qualification session, which can be converted to another practice session or simply removed altogether. Depending on how what they do, sprint weekends could turn into lighter weekends compared to a standard race, which I am certain the teams will appreciate given the already packed calendar.

Reverse grid will show up what a sh*tshow it'll be when the drivers will go as slow as possible.

What if qualification for the sprint is the grid order for the full race and then the sprint qualification order is reversed for the sprint race?

If we do reverse grid, I would like to see a system where you get end position points, and points for the different between starting and end position. So if you started in 1st(ie last in qualifying) and ended in first that wouldn't be as many points as if someone started in 8th on the grid and made their way to a podium. My fear for a straight reverse grid would be drivers fighting for the slowest qualifying time. I think this idea would keep drivers going for the fastest qualifying time and force them to fight for the front.

Pirelli needs to make sprint race tyres. Ones that fall apart in 8 laps and forces all teams to pit.

This thing of a procession isn't on.

Then on reverse grid, it should be a coin toss by a young fan after Sprint Qualifying. That stops anyone from driving slowly in SQ

The reverse grids would be a great idea imo... And in order to force drivers to go as fast as possible on qualifying, getting pole should give substantial points making it also more strategic than just getting grid position

The only time reverse grids work is when you have two races, one with the normal grid, the other with a reverse grid, and only to determine the pole position for the main race. But it would be better to fix the cars to fit the tracks that they race on to allow for more competitive driving and overtakes!

reverse quali order would be stupid, but reverse championship order would be interesting. Sainz and some other drivers have supported the idea

Why not use the result from the sprint, as quali for the main race?

Give points for Spring qualifying the same as points for the sprint. All the way to last place. Win qualifying means having to race through the field in the sprint. Completely lose and you start first on the sprint. Play it safe in both and you get nice points in both. Then tally the points and divide them by say 5 or 10 so that they can better match the full race. Risk versus reward.

No to the reverse grid, and I personally would stay out of Africa. Rwanda is not that far removed from the genocide that many of my fellow Canadian Military men and women fought in. The unlucky paid with their lives, and many still pass away today from PTSD, caused by the horrors they were exposed to there. Many countries in Africa remain a dictatorship, and are as corrupt as they come. I would hate to see a race cancelled due to some coup attempt.
