CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jimmy Lee Farnsworth (R. Lee Ermey) calls Fletch (Chevy Chase) in front of the ministry where he confesses his sins and is forgiven.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Though the original Fletch was drubbed by critics, it proved a major success for star Chevy Chase. It was inevitable, then, that a sequel would make an appearance. Surprisingly, Fletch Lives didn't come out until 1989--a full five years after the original. Once more, Chase stars as Irwin Maurice "Fletch" Fletcher, the gonzo investigative reporter created by novelist Gregory McDonald. Indulging his penchant for disguises and bizarre aliases, Fletch investigates a deep dark mystery at a crumbling Southern plantation. Various friends and enemies are portrayed con brio by Hal Holbrook, Cleavon Little, Juliane Phillips, Randall "Tex" Cobb, Richard Libertini and Richard Belzer (Chase's cohort from the old Groove Tube days).

CREDITS:
TM & © Universal (1989)
Cast: Chevy Chase, R. Lee Ermey
Director: Michael Ritchie
Producers: Bruce Bodner, Peter Douglas, Alan Greisman, Richard A. Harris, Robert E. Larson
Screenwriters: Gregory McDonald, Leon Capetanos

Is funny seeing Ermey as caring character. I know in real life he was, I’ve seen many of his interviews. But this particular role kind of cracks me up.

This is one of my favorite movies. Chevy Chase killed it in this role!

Fletch's boss (Frank) was played by Richard Libertini. (May 21, 1933 -- January 7, 2016; Aged 82) I always loved his character. Richard was married to Melinda Dillon (October 13, 1939 -- January 9, 2023; Aged 83) from 1963 to 1978. Melinda played in two of my other favorite movies: "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (1977) and "A Christmas Story" (1983). May both rest in peace. As Bob Hope used to sing "Thanks for the memory."

Chevy Chase is still my favorite comedian actor since SNL of the 1970’s, the original SNL team.

2:06-2:15 changing so many expressions in 10 seconds you need to be a good actor, Chevy Chase was really awesome and hilarious in those Fletch movies

R. Lee Ermey was typecast as a drill sergeant/military type in so many movies and television, but this role shows he really did have the ability to perform other roles well.

R. Lee Ermey actually played the last of an evangelical minister pretty well.

I wish they would of made more fletch movies with Chevy Chase. It sucks we only got 2 of them. He was made for these films. I hear their trying to make a fletch 2, but it won't be the same without Chevy Chase.

"Uh, well I've sinned. Didn't take any Polaroids or anything."

"I parked in a handicapped spot on my way over here, actually on a handicapped person, I told him I'd be out in five minutes so that's not such a big deal."

That part where Fletch sees Farnsworth's hand, the Fletch's reaction kills me every time. Gold
