At first, being a choir singer, I couldn't stand way Nick sings the titular lyric, but in time... it'd be cliche to say it grew on me, but I think it finally sunk in just what feelings he's trying to get across. He sounds like a warrior turned folk bard, and not some professional classically trained singer. It just... finally hit me how much more that adds to the emotional impact. I approve

"will I fight for the queen or the slave?" is my favorite line of the song because of the heavy morality it implies. basically do you do what you're supposed to do honorably and dutifully or do you disobey and do what you're not supposed to for justice and retribution

What I love about the vocals are that they sound world weary, like an old fighter and that in itself tells its own story that really pushes the music to new heights.

I don't know what everyone is talking about, I have had the album since it was released, and this song and Star Sky have quickly become two of my favorite TSFH songs. I get sad when the instrumental version comes on instead of the vocals version.

I don't think the vocals ruined the song at all. In fact, it is my favorite part. At that point i envision the aftermath of a battlefield as Nick sings an ode to war that transpired the chorus on the other hand. I'm not one to question the gods of music, but i don't think should ever be said in 3 separate syllables like that

At first. The lyrics were very "meh" to me. But after a while. It really grew on me, and now it's my favorite part of the song. TSFH. No matter what you do. Your music always wins me over.
