recent college grad here - definitely recommend keeping an umbrella in your backpack at all times! preferably one that is a bit wider when it opens so that it covers your backpack as well and doesn’t ruin any of your things! ☺️

College student here! About to start my fourth year. Definitely brings an umbrella and always keep it in your backpack! My backpack is waterproof which has been a lifesaver for my books and my computer so many times.

Hey! I’m going into my second year of college. I kept an umbrella in one of my side pockets on my backpack just incase it would start raining or if the rain went from a drizzle to a down pour. A lot of other people on my campus would walk around with an umbrella when it was raining!! I would also suggest/make sure your backpack is water repellent/resistant so nothing gets damaged/soaked

Hi I am going into my second year of college. For me if it’s raining really hard I use an umbrella but if it’s just drizzling I wear something with a hood. Hope it helps!

Hi! So, I am a freshman in high school, but I find it very convenient to have an umbrella in a slot where my laptop goes, or I would recommend it to be in your side pocket if your water bottle does not fit. If it rains on campus, it's more durable to have it where it's easy to access and will not drench inside your backpack. Much love, - Alyssa

I go to school in the northern west coast and yup it’s just about rains all the time. I don’t like umbrellas because I find them clunky but it depends on the amount of rain tbh. I do use an umbrella if it’s a downpour in addition to a rain jacket. If it’s small, I just use a rain jacket

I think you could shove the umbrella in that big pouch that the backpack came with? It’ll keep stuff dry and umbrella has it’s own location to be kept

I went to school somewhere with heavy rain. Everyone wore rainboots, a waterproof jacket and carried an umbrella. Backpack covers were also used but I always forgot to buy one. At least at my school if you didn't have the right gear you were soaking wet and miserable all day so they were must haves. Also in general no one cares what you do or wear, just be comfy so you can learn at your best.

Not in college but for rain I always carry a umbrella in the water bottle pocket and if I know it’s gonna rain I’d bring a rain coat!

From a soon-to-be college sophomore...Personally, I would use both a rain jacket or umbrella it just depended on how hard it was raining. If it is pouring nobody is gonna think you look dumb for holding an umbrella lol
