The black, rectangular thingy is almost certainly a thermistor, I took one apart once... :)

At 18:17 that thing would be for a colour (color) TV degaussing unit.  I have a few of those here.

   Nice goodies!
I was kind of surprised how well the smaller 16" tube fit in the CRT mask. It makes sense if that's how the line started out anyway, and then moved later to 17 inches.
I think that is a great way to go to use that restored chassis in the Bakelite cabinet. Now all you got to do is figure out what the guy did and what he was thinking when he did it. I hope that you don't have to pull your hair out!
One thing I did notice was how clean that chassis was. That sure is nice.

Lots of treasure in those boxes; look up the prices on those mica caps and be amazed. Let me know if you want more of those 75/300 ohm baluns; I've still got most of a case of them.

That black box thing that you thought was a buzzer, was a PTC (positive temp co) resistor used in degaussing circuits in (modern?) TVs

Hi Bob, I remeber some time ago you ranted about radio-museum and the copycat issues. I'm struggling to get some Service Manual, its for a R2R Grundig, I wanted to ask if you can download from there for me. Yes, i know, I need my membership, either paypal (dont have) or making 19 reports or 12 prices (I can't). Eventually can get the SM for another site, but got seriuos trouble here to buy nor pay things outside country. I searched a ton for a free download, happens no so much info on this one. I don't you get in trouble or anything. If no issue, I wuoold ask you for the model. and if not, its ok, SM is a market itself, but just got some problems getting into that market by now. Cheers and no worry if you can't, just forget this thing.

Cool stuff Bob! When did they start using CRT instead of kinescope?

I noticed a Vitramon VY12C porcelain capacitor in there. Probably around 200-300pF and 300v rated. I see those occasionally in old military gear. I always liked the logo on them.
