Thanks, I'm so glad you approached this subject with the respect it deserves and didn't fall into the trap of calling these gamified missions. These are broadening the aspect of aviation flying and like you said tackling real world challenges and responsibilities. There's still a lot of single minded 'hardcore' simmers out there who do not respect any aviation activity other than the one they do, which is so sad for these to be dismissed like that. I love my airline runs and try and do cold and dark when I can, but I'm completely open to trying different aviation activities as well and learn more about this amazing aviation community we have in the real world.

100% behind this career mode, having sim flights with the real world context, always makes me enjoy the flight more.

I’m a helicopter guy so sling load ops is a big excitement for me.

People would be very wise to keep expectations low. If it was going to be spectacular, then I think we would definitely have seen some more detailed videos from Asobo showcasing this. There seems, rather, to be very little concrete details out about it.

Best case scenario is that they build a system that can be easily expanded on by modders in the community. We can only hope that this is the case.

It wouldn't surprise me if the career mode is just a dozen scripted missions for a handful of different careers. Not the dynamic, simulated economy style sandbox that we might dream of.

Though if they include a robust mission editor then the opportunities for modding will be endless.

I think aviation is probably one of the most regulated activities in the world. Building a career in aviation is IMHO different then just picking an airplane and doing challenging stuff with it. It means to me in the first-place flying lessons. This was in my opinion always an underdeveloped area in MSFS. From very early on there were some flight lessons in the sim but it never went all the way. You knew roughly how the controls of a small airplane work but after that there was never a transition to bigger airplanes. That was up to the community to figure out. From Microsoft Flightsimulator 2 onwards I never was able to figure out how to do that. I had (with exception of the first one) all the versions of MSFS but I never came further then smaller aircraft. I hope that Microsoft starts to implement a good training system for all these careers, because without training a career system is nothing more than a game mode. There is not a singly pilot in the world that had a career as e.g. an airline pilot without training.

Nice video. But will it be necessary to have a career mode or the general free flying option will be an option for those who are not interested in the career mode. Any idea?

As we probably all have our own views on what constitutes a 'career mode', maybe a good start would be to arrive at a mutually agreeable definition for the term?

I hate to be a killjoy, as I'd love a full-on career mode just as much as anyone else here.

However, have we yet to see anything from MS/Asobo that would indicate that these are not "just" a single mission for each type of aviation?

For me, the very least a career mode would have is the ability to generate multiple different missions, for the chosen genre, and to allow the pilot to graduate to more complex and challenging missions. Earning money or XP would not be absolutely necessary for me, as long as it has something to give you a slightly different experience for each mission, within your selected genre.

Don't get me wrong, I'd probably enjoy flying each and every one of the missions, even if it is just one per genre, but if it is going to be just that, I personally wouldn't call it a career mode.

So, is there virtual HR in the career mode? Like do we have to watch all the painful video modules (make sure to not let someone in behind you without badge swiping? Don’t open emails that look suspicious? And of course remember hackers always wear black hoodies and sit in darkened rooms… sigh…) how often does the game force FAA paperwork? Do we have to in-game flight-sims (that would be super meta)

I'm excited for all the above upcoming missions I would love to try them out, just one question how the mfs2024 flight school going to be, will there be any improvement from the previous mfs2020 if there still going to have a flight school I'm assuming?

Maybe LEO helicopter career will come later…as in car chases like we always see with LAPD or using your daylight lamp to track suspects on foot. Or be on the opposite side and be a drug smuggler!

I don't think it will be as in depth as people are saying it will be, rather there will be "groups" of missions to complete for each of the types shown here. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I think people are going overboard thinking there will be some kind of economy system.

Well my favorite aviation career would be the one that they forgot.... Dog fighting! But I understand It's a flight simulator not a war simulator and that's why we have thr other game that I won't mention. 😉
Thanks for the great video once again!

im sure msfs2024 will be great for new folks and xbox players and people who just want to do some quick sightseeing take screenshots or do rescue missions and stuff. but I also think it will be a major let down for serious simmers like myself.last 4 years have taught me to not get hyped about anything in flight simming. lets hope the best. I also dont believe they will have all the essentials done by release, like weather, traffic, atc, radar and all that other important stuff we NEED to have a realistic flight sim. lets not speak about hardware stuff. who knows what will be compatible?

Already so bored of the naysayers trying to drag MSFS 2024 down, it’s the same types that called me a ‘junky’, unemployed and not a proper simmer for owning an Xbox.
