What to Do When Your Ex Backs Away And Goes Cold

Your ex stops texting back, stops telling you they miss you, cancels plans with you…. It can be pretty disheartening feeling, especially if you had made lots of progress and were well on your way to getting back together before he or she went cold.

But you know what the real problem is with this type of situation? It’s not your ex’s lack of interest or sudden change of tone. That can usually be overcome easily, if you know how. The real problem is how most people react to this situation. The natural instinct, which is to panic and try to take action to stop their ex from slipping away, is guaranteed to make things worse.

He’s 100% right. I got back into contact after like three weeks of no contact and we chatted every other day and she was very warm towards me. All of a sudden one day her texts were shorter and she was very cold. I backed away for about 4 or 5 days and tried again. After this small NC period, she was much warmer toward me again. And hasn’t gone cold in me since, and texts me first most of the time. It’s all good guys!

Is relationships pretty much a game? I feel like it is and I feel like it’s not healthy. Trying to balance between being too clingy, and not showing any affection at all. It’s just so complicating. I gave my girlfriend space, and that gave her time to think about breaking up with me. I treated her the same she treated me, and now things aren’t healthy.

Dammit!! I wish I saw this 6 years ago. I don't know Brad Browning or anything about his videos/books... but this advice is spot on. When I broke up with my ex, I pined and cried for her like a lil girl. It was my first break, so I had no clue what I was doing. I pushed her away so bad, we stopped talking for 5 years. I tried to move on, dated other girls, but I still miss her. I ran into her for the first time in years at a bookstore. It was awkward, but we were polite. I'm not looking for her at all and just plan on letting it happen. I hope to see her again, and maybe show her a different more mature side of me that wasn't there before. When you break up, you need that time to build yourself up again, regain that confidence. It's really hard to stay away, but it's better than scaring her away with your desperation.

This has been super helpful! I actually have strong feelings that I was am a 'place holder' or I'm only contacted when he's bored.
