I don’t pay attention in class but now I’m watching an hour long lecture that’s how you know he’s a great professor

I like this guy, if only I could attend his actual class. Thankfully y'all offer it online!

This is one amazing lecture, it is a fabulous invitation to a field I had never looked into.
Thank you Dr. Demaine!
Thank You MIT!

Very interesting stuff. Don't know if I will really dig into it and watch all the lectures, but is very curious how there are so many areas of knowlegde that we don't even imagine. When he first talked about applications, I tought of the aerospacial ones and then later he mentioned it. So you see, such a relatively new field, in the sense of major developments, that is crucial to space exploration and deep understadings of how proteins work. Really important and cool stuff. And great lecture, by the way, really liked the guy.

@3:29 - Of course, Toy Story 4 didn't exist until years after this was recorded, but I think he should of used the example:
... "you're making Toy Story 11, The Wrath of Ken... Oops, sorry, spoiler alert."
🙃

I'd love to know how many of those "open questions" are no longer open…

The design in his t-shirt is an origami crane. It is a symbol of the city of Hiroshima.

Really dumb question here. Is this stuff for programming so that it enables things to look like they are bending on the screen? or things actually bending...robotics? other machines that are folding ?

Paper and polyhedra are the same problem no? Or why not allow cuts to the paper?
