The Preston Hollow Residence was designed for a couple passionate about art, seeking a new home to house their growing collection. Situated on an unusually shaped lot of over 4000 square meters in the prestigious neighborhood of Preston Hollow in Dallas, the house was crafted to maximize landscape views and create a visual escape to the horizon. These views are carefully framed by interior and exterior planes, allowing the landscape to merge seamlessly with the interior spaces.

Located towards the rear of the lot, the residence forms a private courtyard with a lawn, pool, and terrace in the backdrop, offering long views from the front and creating a sense of expansive landscape. The surrounding vegetation ensures the residence's privacy, creating a serene and secluded retreat. This layout enhances the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, transforming the surrounding nature into an extension of the home environment.

The renowned firm Bodron+Fruit was responsible for the architectural and interior design, adopting a rich palette of natural tones including marble, limestone, and white oak flooring. These materials were chosen to complement the owners' art collection, highlighting the artworks without visually competing with them. The furniture, selected for its elegant and comfortable forms, harmonizes in soft tones but varies in textures, adding depth and interest to the interior design. Meticulous architectural details, such as a decorative pivoting metal gate and custom door hardware, add a touch of sophistication and exclusivity to the project.

To protect the residence from the intense Texan sun, the west facade was designed as a solid wall clad in light-colored limestone, helping to reflect the heat. In contrast, the south and east facades feature large glass windows with generous eaves, allowing natural light to enter while minimizing heat gain. Additionally, the house is equipped with a motorized shading system, enabling residents to efficiently and adaptively control solar exposure.

The Preston Hollow Residence also incorporates several sustainable solutions. With 26 solar panels installed on the roof, the house significantly reduces its energy consumption and, when possible, returns energy to the grid. Water management was carefully planned: all rainwater collected from the roof is stored in a 10,000-liter underground reservoir, used for garden irrigation, reducing reliance on external water resources. Other sustainable features include a geothermal heating and cooling system and the use of foam insulation, enhancing the home's energy efficiency.
