I love rugged phone, but we underestimate a lot the resilience of normal smartphones.
My old rugged died and since I was broke, I took a company phone for 12 bucks a month as a temporary solution, a samsung A14
SInce it's almost free and I can have as much as I want, I don't hold off on it, and man, did this phone get molested.
But it's still running, despite being covered in dirt, water, mud, saawdust (in case you did not get it, im a garden worker).
Sure it do not charge very well, it start bugging, is slow, but that's also due to the cheap trim of the phone
So of course, considering the price of phones nowadays, you want to be more careful than I am, but the myth saying that regular smartphone die easy is just not true.
