The Roman conquest of Greece came through a series of wars called the Macedonian wars and the Achaean war, Though despite their victories, the Roman themselves were huge fans of Greek Culture, so for the average Greek life didn’t change much, however by being part of Rome it also meant to deal with Rome’s many, MANY problems…

Rome: (“Poor predictable Greeks, always fighting in a Phalanx.”)

Greeks: (“Good old Phalanx! Nothing beats that!”)

Oh man, I sure hope I don't get engaged in a two front war with Odrysia and Sparta. That would just be horrible...

For another point about the impact of Hellenic culture on the Romans, Marcus Aurelius' Meditations is written in Greek. Any man of high standing was to be fluent & literate in the language. It probably helped that the Hellenic areas the Romans conquered ended up being some of the wealthiest in the entire Republic/Empire.

1:00 So you are telling me that the only thing that has changed between now and then is the direction on which Greeks are leaving their country?

1:31 An important reminder: the term barbarian is meant not only for foreigners, but also to describe an uncivilized or uneducated person (Greek or foreign) – by urban Greek standards and someone difficult/hard/impossible to understand when speaking (a Greek dialect or a foreign language). Ancient Greeks – particularly the Athenians – often used the word “barbarian” to insult and/or mock other Greeks who were less ‘civilized’.
1)Atheneaus:
“And when he was asked again, according to the account given by Hegesander, which were the greatest barbarians, the Boeotians [i.e: Greeks] or the Thessalians [Greeks], he said: ‘The Eleans’ [Greeks].” (Athenaeus, “The Deipnosophists”, 8.42)
2)Plato:
“Was he not reproaching Pittacus for not knowing how to distinguish words correctly, Lesbian as he was, and nurtured in a barbaric tongue?” [i.e: referring to the Aeolic dialect, one of the major Greek dialects] (Plato, “Protagoras”, 341c)

This is what happens when a bunch of city states who never made a serious empire of their own collide with an empire that’s actually serious about expansion.
