When I was 6 I somehow had a brief Mandela effect of it being called the Metal type, as in Jasmine was the Metal leader and Steelix was a Metal type. Fucking Slayer.

I don’t like Steel having resists to 70% of types in the game but I also don’t like ghost and dark being the most spammable types in the game from gen 6 and beyond

Personally I think steel should resist every type so I don’t need any other types on my team

They should have buffed some weaker types to resist Dark/Ghost when they nerfed Steel. Bug could resist Dark for example since it's already super effective against it.

Outside of balancing, I really don't think steel resisting dark or ghost ever made intuitive sense

Knock off buff, steel nerf, Prankster immunity, Gamefreak really wanted dark type to succeed. I also just hate the act of nerfing what a *defensive* type resists, but the thought of Aegislash and Gholdengo with -2 weaknesses is scary

Lower tiers are forever looking for good dark resists besides mon itself. some tiers struggled to find a krook/crawdaunt checks besides themselves.

The fact bug doesn't resist dark is crazy to me considering their whole type relationship is probably just a Kamen Rider reference anyway, not actually using the logic of actual bugs vs evil most likely.

As a kid I always thought steel should be weak to water and electric due to rust and conductivity

I feel it should've either been the Bug type that's no longer resisted by Steel OR Fairy resisting Ghost, not Bug.

Like why kick a type that already sucks in almost every way bit and randomly buff one of the most useful types.

Lets hope that Calyrex-S presence in VGC as the most broken restricted pokemon, makes GF change their mind about Ghost Types in general

Giving resistence to other types would be a better idea other types needs a buffs like Bug resisting dark or rock resisting ghost and dark types it even makes sense since in several cultures there are stones and minerals that are used as an amulet or protection versus spirits.

Yes you have big words and stuff but have you considered that I like clicking choice specs shadow ball ?
Also yeah, ghost type is somewhat held back by the fact that its best special move is shadow ball. If shadow ball was 90 BP...

I think the interesting takeaway here is that "is Steel being broken directly related to a "better" meta"

Obviously they are the main defensive types in the game especially in singles alongside Ground(in Doubles its probably Fire). In comparison theyre definitely relatively unbalanced. So nerfing them is a "good" thing by that logic, but Dark Spam and Ghost spam is a problem in future gens entirely because now the type everyone used to handle them is entirely bypassed.
