This happened at my wedding. My nephew grabbed my husband’s brother’s leg thinking it was his dad, my brother. They were wearing the same tuxedo. When he looked up to see it wasn’t his dad he startled. Fortunately his dad was right there to pick up the frightened two year old.

They don't look alike, but from her level she just saw black and white.

Not quite the same situation but a little boy at my sons old nursery ran up to me for a hug 😂 I look nothing like his mum and he knew I wasn't but he just wanted a hug so I gave him one 😂

This happened to me when I was likely her age too. And yes I still remember the traumatising embarrassment 3 decades later! 🫣🫥😶‍🌫️😵😵‍💫🥴

Very much reminds me of the time I got lost in the mall at Christmas. This would be in the early/mid 1980s.
I was following my dad through the thick crowds, keeping an eye on the back of his long coat, since that was at eye level. This being Christmas and me being a child, I was also looking around at all the interesting stuff in the mall, checking back to confirm where that coat was now and then, and making sure I didn't fall behind.
At some point, dad's coat stopped, and I looked up to ask why we were stopping in the middle of the hallway, and was STARTLED badly to realize that was NOT my Dad! He just had the exact same coat!
Worried, but I'd been taught what to do if I got lost, so I fell back on that instruction, found the Guest Services kiosk near the middle of the mall, told them I lost my dad, and asked if they could page him. They did.
A few minutes later, Dad stormed up, red in the face, extremely upset, snatched my arm and dragged me out of the mall without a word. If you can picture Bart Simpson being yanked out of the frame by Homer, with a "HuWUH!" it was much like that.
Only later did I think about this part: Dad never said a word to the staff at the kiosk. I didn't get to call out to him or confirm to anyone he WAS my dad; he just snatched my arm and dragged me away.
I guess you could do that in 1985 without worrying people? In 2015, they'd have the mall surrounded by police with their guns out in minutes.

This is like me getting picked up from school once… but I was 14. I thought I saw my mom’s car drive in, so I tried to open the door, but it wouldn’t unlock. So I just kept repeatedly yanking on the handle while I waited, only to finally look in the window to see that it wasn’t my mom, but some terrified man thinking I was trying to break into his car 😂😭 I immediately jerked away & apologized like crazy & he started laughing once he realized I wasn’t trying to rob him 😗

Omggg i remember getting in some random peoples Limo when I was like 3-5 maybe? The bride had long orange hair and looked like Jiselle (disney) i remember saying to her "OH MY GOD! ARE YOU A PRINCESS?!?!" And my sibling damn newr ripped my arm out of my socket apologizing to the newly married couple profusely 🤣 in MY defense, she was wearing a tiara and she was seriously gorgeous 😂💙
