I got kicked out of #teampixel years ago. Lessons were learned.

I was a member of #teampixel during the launch of the Pixel 3XL. My review of the phone wasn't positive (and it wasn't very nice either) so I was no longer in #teampixel.

God forbid a YouTuber can't be painfully honest about a tech product. What does that say about the company? perhaps they think their product is not very good then? If the tech company is confident in their product. Then let the reviews speak for themselves without pressure. Thank you Jason for your honest reviews all these years.

Thank you for being painfully honest, maybe if Google had been able to live up to the 'don't be evil' objective they would have made better decisions all over, from marketing with new media creators, to monopolistic behavior in search and advertising🙏

Turned on all notifs for your channel. I appreciate this honesty. Will ALWAYS triple doubt ALL Google related reviews.

Gamesky had a little video on this earlier today saying he was dropped from team pixel as well. He didn't know when, he was never informed. Apparently saying anything negative these days makes some people act like a spoiled little rich kid. After the Tekton speaker issue and Goldensound with DCS audio you would think they would behave a little better.

I joined team pixel by buying pixel 7. Basically I excluded myself from teampixel after that - i will never buy another pixel ever again. I had a little hope for pixel 9 but seeing new prices I said no thanks.

I had a similar experience with a certain drum company. I was paid, and after I made the video, even though I was critical, I felt like I was being too nice. I let them know how I really felt about the product, and didn't feel right about leaving the video on my channel so I took it down. They didn't ask for their money back, but also never asked me to put the video back up. However they never offered me anything else either. But honestly, they were selling a piece of junk and I didn't feel good about promoting it on my channel.

I get products from companies from time to time on my small channel and they sometimes try to get you to use a script. Soundcore had the nerve to send a product the day of release and expected a full comprehensive review. That's why i like doing things on my own time rather than what they want. Good or bad I'll let the viewer know if it's worth a buy or not

I was taught to give constructive criticism your not talking negatively about a product rather giving suggestions on how to improve it.

Fantastic advice, Jason. It's a double edged sword, and you have to decide which end you wish to fall on. Either become a shill and perhaps experience artificial growth in your brand at the cost of being authentic (in a sea of inauthenticity), or keep it real and hope that people find your content insightful enough to subscribe, with your dignity intact.

Thanks for this for it gives me a couple of ideas being a creator.

You're in or out. It's the game. I am a blogger since for ever. I can actually say bad things about the products. I only kept, as a gift, perhaps... 10%? And even those sometimes are not good reviews.

That’s it, mate. Gotta keep ontrucking.😊

Great content. Since this emailed leaked, team pixel is gonna lose a lot of reviewers. Even after google taped, it danced back by saying that wasn't the proper language that should have been put out. Well, google, it's too late. Pandoras box has been open. And let's not say google knew nothing about it. They hired that company. If they [google], don't at least look at the final writing before putting it on the web, then shame on them.

I remember years ago I heard Apple kinda do something similar. I remember the person saying that they got an email from Apple scolding them because the review was kinda negative.. it was a big YouTuber but I can't remember who said it. 🤔

I think Google is not worried about this and they are actually benefiting from it in some way. All press is good press. Google is so big if they can shut down a comment from a misinformation post about politics that's not really misinformation they can easily shut this down if they wanted to.

Really it was a bad idea from the jump to give promotional phones to people that do tech reviews for a living. Now every tech reviewer that's been a member of team pixel seems a little compromised. Because they have now explicitly said it's not for reviewers.

Between that and getting early access from every company and affiliate links, I don't really trust any YouTubers anymore. Even the ones that try to be objective and ethical, they're impacted subconsciously naturally.

And there's no best practices for ethics on YouTube tech reviews.. it's not like legacy media where you have society professional journalist in the associated press and explicit policies about gifts and companies paying for lodging and so on
