Did You Know?

To quote the opening lyric from Arthur Conley's, "Sweet Soul Music",..."Do you like good music?" And do you care about the sound quality of this 'good music', the music that we now lovingly refer to as our treasured legacy recordings from an era of music production long since gone - legacy recordings like the one just cited or cited in this video you are listening to now or "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King, "Yesterday" by The Beatles, "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" by Frankie Valli, "(Sittin' on) The Dock Of the Bay" by Otis Redding, "Baby I Need Your Loving" by The Four Tops, Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson", "Rhythm of the Rain" by The Cascades, "Georgia On My Mind" by Ray Charles and 'on and on'...?

In fact, when we talk about the exceptional sound quality of these legacy recordings and then take a turn and focus on a very special part of the process of the reproduction of this music 'to the presses', as it were, we begin to realize there is more. It was an unprecedented time in our music production history and the process, from the studios-to-the-pressing plants, included an intentionally crafted sound especially for an uncanny medium(vinyl) that oft times, brought with it, a sound that would actually eclipse the sound of the original master tape. In fact, many are dramatically profound apart from the master tape, folks.

But then let's take the conversation a step further. What happens when you take that piece of it and have it 'joined at the hip' professionally with today's incredible advances in audio technologies, to further 'exploit the exploitable' or 'embellish those embellishments' that are only found in this uniquely crafted sound? What happens then? Something that can be 'quite profound' at times within itself, and something that can be quite beautiful to the ears. And even better, something that can easily be made available to the masses where it might otherwise not ever be able to get there in totem.

So what does this mean and how is it important to you and me as consumers of the digital forms of these treasured classics?

LegacyVMP Studio is a studio that is specially engineered and equipped to produce a digitally revitalized version of this sound and take advantage. In fact, the studio is not only about preserving and promoting this sound(the Legacy LP Mastered Sound,) but we intend to help it 'live and breathe again' in today's digital age.

How do we do that?

By leveraging and utilizing technology to create very high end digital HFE (high fidelity engineered) audio files, and then making them accessible to our incredible mastering studios to be used as they see fit.

What will they do with them (digital HFE audio files)?

Three things: 1.) use them for their own purposes, for example, to assist with their very own legacy recordings digital conversion and/or rework projects by incorporating them in creative ways, as they only know how, into their current processes for these audio projects; and/or, 2.) further prepare and present them as a 'standalone marketable sound' to be entered directly into the digital legacy audio supply channels i.e. streaming, digital broad/podcast, download or even repress new vinyl; and/or 3.) prepare them to become the new alternative 'master' file where no other viable options/alternatives exists, for example, all tape and safety masters and/or multitrack session tapes/stems no longer are applicable for whatever reason i.e. time degradation of source material rendering them no longer usable, natural disaster caused destruction, etc.

And so we are beyond grateful to now be able to 'serve-up' to and support, our incredible mastering studios by acting in a partnership role with them for the greater good of all.

“This little studio can produce it and now the big studios are able to use it.”

"Because you don't want to miss what's in store for 'the Legacy LP Mastered Sound'".

Suprising that this Left Banke single was never a hit in the UK, although the Four Tops cover version did chart. Lovely string arrangement and harpsicord on this - only now is this original version being justly discovered and valued. Great track and the best sound I've heard of this in a digital format. Well done Vinyl Restoration Project.

I remember purchasing the Mercury Records reissue of this album in 1982 as a college sophomore and falling in love with each track on this album!

This was one of our 2015 archives. Friends, a lot (and I mean A LOT!) has happened since then. For starters, this classic could use another 'restoration Pass' to build on what we did in 2015, especially now. I hope to eventually make that happen at some point. But there is much more work to do. Let me explain.

Folks, are you aware that there exist many, many legacy artists that unfortunately, the digital age of music has NOT been so kind? For example, one of them is Pop/Country artist, B. J. Thomas. So my studio, LegacyVMP Studio, is on a mission to try and help do our part to change this kind of business climate within the legacy audio industry that we feel is long overdue. I think the time is right for studios like mine (and others!) to take what technology now affords us and turn it into something that can be very positive for the industry as a whole. Will you help us do that?

Lyrics
And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

Just walk away, Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

From deep inside the tears that I'm forced to cry
From deep inside the pain that I chose to hide

Just walk away, Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now, as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me, it cries

Just walk away, Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now, as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me, it cries

Your name and mine inside a heart upon a wall
Still finds a way to haunt me though they're so small

Just walk away, Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

Always one of my favorite songs over the years. Unfortunately, the quality of this song not so good by todays audio standards. Also, I notice some slight pitch errors on the vocals leading into tje song. Still a brilliant work of art and also one of Linda Ronstadt's all-time favorites that influenced her career...

But Renee most certainly shares the blame. Wearing miniskirts and other revealing apparel. She's all about appearances. Revealing and exposing her physical assets. Educating herself in prickteasery while the only person she forms a deep connection with is her own image in the mirror.

She's not to blame? She's done everything in her power to make you feel that way.
