Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes Bukayo Saka's penalty miss at Euro 2020 was "great for his career" after the England international scored one goal and set up another in the 3-2 win at Watford.

Saka provided the assist for Martin Odegaard's early opener at Vicarage Road, which was soon cancelled out by Cucho Hernandez's overhead kick.

The Arsenal academy graduate then restored his side's advantage after a well-worked one-two with Alexandre Lacazette, before Gabriel Martinelli added a third.

it made him a cold blooded killer. look at how much his finishing alone has improved this year. he's becoming a monster

It’s incredible that he’s the youngest coach in the league and he’s doing what he’s doing. Literally changing the entire culture, creating a competitive but enjoyable atmosphere, nurturing the youth and reminding the players and some of the fans about important history.

Yeah he missed the pen. But you’re lost if you don’t rate the mentality. First to even take it at 20 yrs old and then to bounce back and have the best season of his young career in response. That boy is a killer. This is just the start. All the disrespect created a monster.

He was always going to be a great player.

No he said the, “experience in the summer” not the miss itself but the support the football world showed him helped him.

Indeed.
Anyone who’s played the game at some capacity knows what Arteta is talking about.
The miss, even though tough, only went on to harden him. This is something that no amount of drills on the training grounds can ever give a player.

Of the three that missed the only one who really used it to push forward was Saka. Sancho sort of took a while to start finding himself again and Rashford is getting worse

The pain of defeat makes Saka man up. In life sometimes when you do suffer you will fight much harder to not suffer that badly again. Convert your pain into motivation fellas. Apply it to your day at work and you shall improve.

Big clickbait!!!!

Arteta said:

“Bukayo had an experience in the summer that not a lot of players are gonna ever have.”

Arteta never narrowed his comments down to just the penalty miss, Sky did that in order to turn the comments into a news story. It’s clever journalism but very manipulative at the same time.

It’s good to learn failure early in your career to stop you from getting big headed. Thankfully Saka won’t turn out like Rashford or Lingard who cared more about earning money and living the celebrity life.

You just know he's going to have a Stuart Pearce moment of redemption at another tournament.

Was quite shocked to see him come up to take the kick given how he'd just burst onto the England scene with so few caps but fair play to him that he did. Was very worried he'd be destroyed by the experience and the press eventually but that's not come to pass thankfully.

The Euro experience has nothing to do with his form. He had already done well for himself before the Euro & as a result made the Euro Squad. Saka was born to play football with a dedicated heart.

He didn't say that he said what he faced made him braver and stronger allowed to know that even though there are haters they are people who will support and love him
