If all emissions globally was a number, and that number was 1000, then NZ's contribution to all emissions is 17. 17 out of 1000. Let's go after China, India etc rather than NZ showboating about how great we are and how green.

How do we know climate change is caused by humans?

1. We know that CO2 absorbs infrared radiation and then passes this energy to other molecules, N2 & O2, in the atmosphere. This is how the atmosphere is warming up.

2. We know that the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is increasing. The measurements go back decades.

3. We know the oceans are absorbing the CO2 and becoming acidic. The energy from the sun would not have this effect.

4. We know the additional CO2 in the atmosphere come from fossil fuels. Carbon 13 in the atmosphere is increasing. This is from the carbon 13 being released that had been trapped in plants from millions of years ago.

5. Stratospheric cooling that was predicted in 1967. If the energy was coming from the sun, then the stratosphere would also warm.
