Biden warns Trump is a 'genuine danger' to US security if he becomes president

U.S. President Joe Biden says he bowed out from the 2024 election after he lost the confidence of several House and Senate Democrats. In an interview with ‘CBS Sunday Morning’, Biden, 81, says he was concerned he would become a distraction had he remained in the race.

“I thought it was important [to step down] because although it's a great honour being president, I think I have an obligation to the country to do the most important thing you can do, and that is [that] we must defeat [former president Donald] Trump.

The Democratic leader also expressed fears about the possibility of Trump taking office again. “Mark my words, if he wins this election, watch what happens. It's a danger. He's a genuine danger to American security,” Biden said.

Trump is expected to face off against Vice-President Kamala Harris this November in the 2024 presidential election.
