My issue with rate my professor is they heavily restrict how honest you can actually be. Two professors I had in my degree program were truly terrible people. Bigoted in all ways, HEAVY favoritism, they seemed to delight in destroying your mental health and manipulating students, and they had perfected the art of tanking your grade to just above passing so you couldn't push for a review. If they didn't like you, you could kill yourself working on an assignment for hours every day for a week, and you didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting above a C. We also have reason to believe one of the lied about my friend's final essay, as she made her rewrite it multiple times, one of which it was returned with no notes on the essay itself, but instead an attached typed list - the list contained a bunch of critiques that were wildly inaccurate, such as "too many grammatical errors - several paragraphs were unreadable" when the essay had been proofread by a family member who was a professor at a different university.

None of this is able to be posted on RMP, as they consider it unrelated/slanderous. I've seen (an been one of) countless students who have had mental breakdowns over trying to pass these classes, because your grade depends on being a buttkiss who doesn't think for themselves, just treats the professors like gods, and you better be thin, white, conventionally pretty, and not part of any minority whatsoever.

If I were a student, I would want that information before I decided to take class with those psople. There were several occasions I considered dropping out because I couldn't take their abuse. Everyone deserves to have a warning for that.

I use rate my professor every semester now. People do put if the teacher is hot or not

It was and is very real and honestly? it’s a great way for students to *warn one another if particular teachers are real monsters and avoid too much yelling. Yay for poorly vetted part timers 😇😂😂

For the last two years of college for me, there were only one or two professor options for my major requirement classes that I would chose the one best for my schedule and go in blind bc it wasn’t like knowing what the professor was like would change anything. And I found doing this was better bc I didn’t go in thinking a particular way about a professor so I’d treat them nice and 9 times out of 10 they’d treat me in kind.

I found a grad assistant I had like 30 years ago near a town where my dad lived. I was getting ready to take a trip there and the professor was gone! Deeper search he had died and read his obituary. I would have been better off not trying to track him down!

On the first day of school the chaos is people getting lost take forever and there's like eight 17 students or 18 students every single day oh yeah when when I was going to have a perfect attendance unless it's a field trip
