Inhale Exhale, Lia Lapithi, monogram

Показать описание
Inhale/Exhale, archive of an art installation, uses discarded found medical equipment that are then “rehabilitated". These objects inevitably carry their own story, touching on different worlds: the world of subjective desires or fears, the world of the intellectual and the world of the mundane. The body here is absent in most of the installations. They are very much part of the body thus the central theme becoming the human presence.
Inhale/Exhale is reminiscent of laboratories and hospitals, places of silence and whispering, where mostly cold color predominates and is a continuation of the preceding work entitled “Operating Theatres". However this is far from a post-human high-tech world of genetic reconstruction and even that of science fiction. It is simply focused on mundane experiences using conventional medical equipment that in many cases are outdated.
