Of course common sense (when you're browsing) and keeping your OS and browsers updated will really help to protect you.

But it's still best to use a good AV system (like Kaspersky) just in case, because Windows Defender just isn't good enough and still doesn't protect you (as you'd hope) against many forms of Ransomware like a decent AV system will.

Relying on Windows Defender to protect you is a bit like travelling abroad without travel/medical insurance: 99% of the time you'll be fine, but that 1% of the time when you really need the added protection, your PC and data are at massive risk if you don't have a decent 3rd party AV.

Thanks Gil. I no longer use VLC but always download software direct from the developer. So far so good.🤞😁
