I came here for all this info but the opening question of "how does the little mantis shrimp defend itself with a strong impact?" threw me, cos it's like is that even a fucking question? Not trying to be a dick or nothing, but if you and i got into a fight and you asked me how i intended to defend myself with impact while pointing at my clenched fists, i wouldn't even tell you, cos you'd be about to fucking find out.

It just stands out to me as odd like asking "how could the animal with the strongest punch force in the world (by a very wide margin) possibly defend itself? Oh no, Whatever will it do?" You know?
