My whole life I had known my dad with his big ole fluffy beard. When I was probably 12, he decided to shave it off. My little brothers & I woke up for school one morning and the beard was gone!! My brothers & I laughed so long & hard, for probably 4 days straight we could not look at his face without laughing---we never knew that Dad had a chin under there! Omg my poor Dad, getting laughed at by his 4 young children for days 🤣

The shock! The betrayal! My heavily bearded father did this to me as a child and again when I was 15…both times he has enough time to step away in the space that it took me to inhale deeply before screaming. I have such compassion for these poor kids.

Also, as an adult, I laugh at their pain and feel like a monster 😂

My dad shaved his head and beard back in 1980 as a way to fight heat in the summer. My 2nd sister who was 2 years old, was shocked by his appearance and never went to my dad for another 8 months. Until my dad had his beard and hair back. They tried every trick in the book, but she would not budge. We still laugh about it to this day, because my father was pretty scared to shave his beard again for another 5 yrs down the line. Watching those little Angels took me back in time.
