As a lifelong NJ resident, the current laws are stupid and this current ruling is equally so.

It's wild that there are people out there just salivating over taking other people's rights away.

30 round magazines are STANDARD capacity.

Being born and raised in NJ I would like to introduce your audience to the Commie State of New Jersey Thank you Adolph Murphy!

I think the greatest thing about this ruling is that other circuit courts have upheld AR-15 bans. This creates a circuit split and therefor makes it far more likely to reach the Supreme Court.

As for magazines, unfortunately they overlooked firearms ie: The Kalthoff Flintlock and Chelembron system. These utilized detachable, tubular magazines and were in use by the late 1600's.

Commenting for visibility but I just want to thank you for all the work you do to explain complex laws in an understandable way.

As an NJ resident I hate our current gun disarmament regime and hope FPC and dedicated lawyers like yourself keep up the good fight. ❤

I can't imagine a scenario where our framers would allow government to dictate what firearms can and can't be used.

This is a master stroke of jurisprudence. A whole new argument over how far does in common use extend. Is it a platform or category? AKs are excluded under this rulings while ARs are not. Both are categorically the same, but different platforms. This will litigate for a decade; meanwhile our rights are trampled. Brava ladies, brava.

Remember when back in the day when a criminal would shoot at people and the police would come and take Everyone's arms away
..
Oh wait me neither

The NJ AWB, bans the WWII, M1 carbine and this ruling continues that ban. Here in NJ we have been waiting for a response and thought it was going to take a long time since the original judge retired. Then we get this stupidity.

Sitting here shaking my head side to side in frustration. The U.S. Supreme Court absolutely must come out with PLAIN language stating that balance checking cannot be used in any way.

In NJ I'm sitting tight until this gets ruled on at a higher court. This ruling couldn't be more convoluted and has already been appealed by FPC.

Jim this is what’s happening in NJ. It moves slow but it’s moving. NJ is a corrupt state and I would not support NJ with my tax money.

"That with available magazines" part is crazy funny to me because they are acknowledging that AR-Mags are in common use if the rifle is in common use.

A big part of the lawsuit was the high capacity magazine ban. This is a loss. AR15’s were allowed in NJ prior to this ruling as long as the evil things were done…no flash hiders, pinned muzzle brake, fixed stocks/no adjustable stocks. With the ruling now we can buy a an actual ColtAR15. This was a major loss… as the high capacity magazine ban was the major fight in the lawsuit.

So glad (for many reasons) that I left NJ 22 years ago. I was born there and grew up there, but the time has come to leave. It was the right decision for me and my family..

Another great discussion, Kirk. Keep up the good work!

If the judges themselves don’t respect the law, how do they expect the general public to?
