The ELF HD face powder is silica powder. Silica powder absorbs excess oil, is clear or see thru, & adds a soft focus effect on the face diffusing imperfections. Although it does cause a flash back in flash photography just like sunscreen does so if you are going to an event where flash photography will be used do not wear silica powder or you will be bright white where the silica was applied.
