Believe it or not, Rob and James Hetfield were my inspiration when I decided to go to AA. I thought to myself "What better higher power could there be but the Metal God himself!". I'll celebrate 6 years in May. Thank you Rob.

To all of you in the comments celebrating sobriety, congratulations. I lapsed after 14 years in may of 2021 when my husband died. I know I'm making an excuse and i shouldn't it was my own doing. Lately i have noticed that it's becoming an everyday thing and i don't like it. Tomorrow I'm going to wake up on day 1. You all keep up the good work and God willing I'll be back in the club.

January is a hard month. Among many people I've lost my husband's best friend to suicide 6 years ago, and two days after that my cousin succumbed to his addiction. He was tortured, and I'm sad he felt he couldn't get the help he needed. My husband has been sober 15 years. It's hard. You're strong. You can do it. We DO love you.

Congratulations to Rob! I’m coming up on 2 years sober at 44 years old. Started drinking and drugs as a teenager. He’s right, it’s not easy but the piece of mind is worth the daily work involved

That's Awesome !! A lot of addicts wait too long to quit and it becomes too late to quit when they end up overdosing and dead. I am one of those people who spent most of his adult life as one big non stop party and didn't at the time think I'd ever be able to quit but after doing just a few Months in County Jail it got me used to not getting high every day so when i got out i packed my bags and moved out of State down to North Carolina in the middle of nowhere where I didn't know anybody and I've been clean ever since. 10 Years Clean. If you're an addict you know you won't be able to quit if you don't get yourself out of that situation you find yourself in on a daily basis. You need to escape it and get as far away from it as you can otherwise the same old bad influences will see to it that you don't stop using. You know who they are. So called "friends".

That was powerful and made me cry a lil. I celebrated 17 years sober on June 28th 2022. Its not easy and combined with mental health illness it definitely takes one day at a time. But it is so worth taking that first step! 🥰

To all of you who are fighting your demons, who are trying to get sober, I'm sending you my love and my full support. May you overcome it, may you defeat it, may you embrace the new life that awaits you. I hope my dad gets sober one day just like Rob did.

This is awesome! Congratulations to Rob! And to anyone struggling with staying sober just know that it's not impossible and the only limitations keeping you from staying sober are the ones you put on yourself. You can do this one day at a time! Clean and sober since 2/22/2014😎

Three years in over here...Prior to, I had a palm sized piece of my skull removed due to a brain infection and put back seven months later, a dozen or so major seizures, having to cut off like 95% of my friends due to them bumming me out, etc, and this stuff isn't easy to deal with to say the least. Like, you lose your whole life, and it's not easy to bounce back. You will lose your past life and friends. That part is hard to accept, but you'll gain a much more positive life and group of friends later on. I wasn't even a junkie or something. All that I did was party/hit the bar scene like three times a week, so my condolences go out to any of you that are using some hard drugs garbage. It's not easy to go what you're going through, being strung out, but stuff will domino if you man up, grow the hell up, get through it, get your mind together, and just say no. I've experienced too many friends overdosing and dying. Just stick with weed if you absolutely need something. Man the hell up instead of being a beta male and just stop messing up your life, as well as your loved one's. Hard drugs are for weak people, and you are not a weak person.
