And this was the last official Sex Pistols concert. I like to think he went back stage and said, “Hey guys I think I’m finally getting the hang of this!”

I have started learning bass a month ago, I can play it just as well as Sid Vicious! Wow
viniciusPBPR
sid is jumping and when he sees that steve disconnects his guitar he stops jumps and gets serious and plays well if he can say well
nza
Steve: bruh wtf happened to my guitar
Sid:(plays his bassline anyway)
Johnny: i'm on a board man, what does that make you
justcyan
It was great Sid kept the show going after Steve's guitar cut out.
And John wasn't interested any more.

as someone who's shit at bass, this sorta gives me faith
gnarkillproductions
In absolute fairness? He did what he had to do. He was slipping and sliding and hitting right on the fret from time to time but overall, he did passably well. Excellent in Sid's context.

It seems Sid became uncomfortable when he's the only one playing (except drums and vocals). If you watch the beginning of Bodies, you can tell he's not shy. It seems to be when he's the only person playing.
duncansmoviesandanimation
serious question - did Sid actually know how to play the bass?
RK_peace
Sid gave it a go I guess you could say and he certainly had an iconic look but without Matlocks abilities both as a bass player and song writer then the Sex Pistols were never going to get a 2nd album out.

tbf this riff requires a level of coordination (hammer on), speed, and strength to play
majesticfool
I like it...kinda rhythmic and simple...its punk fr chrssakes!
krisscanlon
there were times when Sid & Paul were actually holding the whole thing together
vincenzollamas
That's Sids heartbeat after taking e's
sallyraynor
I love sid, I truly didn't think he could play that good. It's not much but not bad.

I feel that the heroine and Nancy Spugen greatly diminished the potential of Sid Vicious, with all the respect in the world to Glenn Matlock, he is an excellent musician, he is the co-author of the songs of the sex pistols I will always be grateful for his great talent, but he lacked the presence that Sid Vicious had on stage, even if he wasn't really playing or playing false notes, he transmitted a lot of emotion on stage that is difficult to describe, I feel that if he hadn't fallen into excesses and bad decisions he could have improved his bass technique and become a more recognized musician.

That’s what happens when you’re selected to be in a band based on your appearance only
strangebrew
Its so funny that this guy is like one of most famos Bass players in history.
vasekdrtic
Well Sid was actually playing the bass at least in time and in key. But very basic and amateurish. I had heard that he couldn't play at all. So this exceeded my expectations But if he hadn't have looked like the quintessential punk, no band of the status of the Sex Pistols would have hired him.
ubellubo
So much for Steve Jones' lie that Sid was unplugged at the last show.
