Between Two Fires! I was going to mention that! Yes, the medieval time period is perfect for historical horror fiction. Actually, a lot of old gothics from the 1800s are set in castles because their themes allude to the darkness of this time in European history. Really cool!

Howls from the dark ages is actually my favorite horror anthology that I’ve ever read. The story titled palette has stuck with me for the last couple years or whatever since I read it. I can’t recommend it highly enough
