I do much prefer the multi-chromes with a see thru base. I also swatch my shimmers on a couple fingers before deciding unless I know exactly how it'll look. They do work best if you go all the way across the lid and if they're se thru base, you can darken them and encourage color flip with the mattes you do underneath

Each time I try a multichrome I'm excited and each time I'm disappointed. I have small eyes, so even less real estate to view the color flip.

I COMPLETELY agree with so much of this! The thing I love most with palettes is COLOR STORY. And the more shifty shades you have in a palette, the more colors introduced by the multichromes and the less cohesive of a color story you can create. One brand I think does it right is Cosmic Beauty. Plenty of beautiful mattes, a few multichromes or duochromes, usually one special shade will be an iridescent, and other more traditional shimmers. And they clearly care about keeping their prices as reasonable as possible while still maintaining the quality.

I spent a solid 5 minutes debating between a pink to gold, a magenta to green to gold, and a red to green to gold for my look today. Tried the two multichromes on each eye and it turns out they both looked orange on my warm neutral mattes

I’m a fan of swatching a few shimmers I’m considering on my wrist as I choose my makeup. That way I can adjust which multichrome I use since you’re right that you can’t always tell what you’re going to get based on what appears in the pan. It helps tremendously!

I've never gotten the hype on the multichromes, I prefer duochromes...might be due to my small eyelid space!

This look is blended flawlessly, and so flattering on your eye color and skin tone! Amazing Job!

Girl I'm with you on having to win a giveaway to afford some pallets. I think you're absolutely right about how they could lower the price. May God bless 💙💙

Light multichromes are where it’s at! For me lol. I don’t mind if the shift is different than what I see in the pan as long as I know what to expect with the colors/shifts, which usually reflects at least something that’s in the pan.

I’m not a green lover and it’s hard not to get the green shift whether you want it or not in any special palette. I have enough green because of wanting the other colors for 5 lifetimes as a person who doesn’t enjoy green. Depending on what you put down first it may change the color if you swatched it expecting one thing and getting another. I’m trying to use and play with what I have before purchasing anything else. It’s hard not to want new launches but I doubt there’s anything very different from what I already have.

I agree, dark multichromes are tricky and I have had issues with the coloured pigment wearable off (ahem Lethal Cosmetics) and leaving that black base behind, some primers seem to EAT those types of shadows.
I have big eyes so being left with a whole lid of black base makes me look like a startled bushbaby- not a good thing

I love Mercari, and I know they need to make money too. BUT but but but they need to check themselves with the buyer and seller fees, it's to much. I still ship, it's just harder to do so. May God bless 💙💙

I do swatch everything when I’m choosing what colors to use

There is nothing more striking than silver hair with a smooth face- it makes you look timeless. Multichromes are a little difficult with a hooded eye, which ties into your point about needing a lot of real estate for them.

Love your eye look! Spooked is such a good palette! Btw all your reasons is why I love Multichromes lol 🤣 I love the unexpected shifts, love black based multichromes, love palettes with tons of multichromes and think the shifts always show on my eyes. I guess I'm not the norm. I think Clionadh, Devinah, and Bella Beaute Bar have some of the best multichromes.

That’s been my issue with multichromes too! I feel like they don’t often show up the way they do in the palette

I’m mad that most of them seem to shift green. Unless it’s like a blue to purple or something. I love a spicy neutral but I don’t always want a green shift

I forgot to say, that I really like this kind of videos, nowadays! Chatty, get ready with me tutorials. Not super-focused on the palette, but still interesting!

Happy New Years!! Also love the look. Multichromes generally shift light green or yellow.. Hard to find some that are truly unique.

Totally agree and I think that as of this month, I now have all the duo/multi chromatic eyeshadows I’ll ever need.
I prefer the Xanadu blue/purple/pink/green moments, and between Devinah, Sugar Drizzle, Cosmic Brushes and Viseart, I’m abundantly stocked.
I do, however, find those Colourpop multi chrome eyeshadow crayons effective in the waterline. I recommend drawing a thicker line that also covers the lash line for the multi chromatic quality to register. The dark lower liner will drop a little lower than usual, but I do like the look.
My biggest frustration with duo/multi chromes is that they’re hard to photograph.
