This song is more poignant now when she's in her early 60's, than it was when it first came out back in the mid 1970's when Janice was in her early 20's.  Now, she sings this song with the perspective of time passed and life lived.  There is nothing like life experience to teach one lessons.  In the mid 1970's Janice was still very close to being  17 herself!  Now, being 17 is something that is far, far, gone.  Hence, the added poignancy of the lyrics, and the melody,  of this timeless song which for me is a classic.

to my regret, this reminds me of my own ageing. Her work has helped to shape my current 69 year old life. You would't believe how good it is

Whoever recorded this used the right equipment, the sound quality is perfect. This performance is so engrossing that you never notice the fact that she doesn't have the horns & orchestration of the original recording. I got to see her in 2010 at the Sydney Opera House, the perfect acoustics of the theater only added to her still flawless voice. And just like at this performance in Liverpool, the audience went totally silent & I saw a number of people crying. Janis should be an example to young singers not to smoke or abuse themselves.

I was only a speck of lad o 13 when I caught Your appearence on the ol' Grey Whistle Blower 76'.. Wasn't only your song brought this aspiring galiath to bended knee as also fell head over heals for this "Brown little girl in hand me downs"...! We grow tired and scepticle with Life.. And as time changes even the better nature's of our precious youth and innocence. But every time I hear you sing this 'Your Song!' I'm whisked right back to that first time of hearing you sing 'Thank you, Janis. Much Love!
