I am a btc . holder who is very confident, the more it dips is the more opportunity to add to my holdings. To me it genuinely felt like everything has been selling off for literally no reason, I mean companies with enough cash on hand to pay off debt like NVDA, PLTR and many others... This is the time to buy I mean many altcoins are down over 50% off their highs and in the dumpster, I've been buying continuously and am gonna continue to buy as cash comes in because there is a huge rally waiting to happen.

This doesn't really make sense. The reason they are moving in the same direction is *because* the institutional investors are treating them the same way. They are selling off their stocks and their crypto at the same time which moves them in the exact same direction to each other.

Why does it seem to me that all of the reasons that people said it was good to have Bitcoin has turned out not to be true. It doesn’t seem to be a hedge against inflation, it doesn’t seem to be unaffected by a downturn in the economy, it’s price is totally unpredictable, and the big one for me is, at any time, our government can decide to regulate or outright ban it as has happened in other countries. Personally, for now I’m done with crypto.

One question! Why don't hedge by short selling, isn't it the opposite direction?

I like crypto however I don’t see a situation where it won’t be at least a bit in parallel with the stock market. If the economy takes a hit, people are going to have fear in all markets and crypto and pull out profits/not invest.

The way you described the relationship between bonds and stocks is the perfect example for a correlation. They are negatively but highly correlated. So this example is a bit misleading…

But why would any hedge funds hold stocks? If stocks and Bitcoin movies in the same direction it makes no sense to hold any stocks because Bitcoin has always outperformed the stock market.

Diversifying your risk can be selling the winner to buy the loser. Long term retail investors who know what they’re doing don’t need to diversify. They’d just rather buy and hold Apple or Amazon or Tesla or Btc.
