I'm a huge fan of Mike's playstyle, and he's 100% correct to avoid solar as nuclear is the way to go. It's just so painful at times knowing Mike can do the maths, yet he then shuts down the gun turret mine without running down the (soon to be obsolete) ammo supplies first! Enough iron to make an entire one of his full belt mines! I guess it might be useful for the next military science.... he's got about 2000 military science worth of yellow ammo there! Maybe I should stick to the highly edited main channel masterpieces but there's something strangely watchable about this playthrough.

2 splitters facing each other with a one space gap for belts going 2 directions is a lovely neat way to make 2 double half belts

The factorio music is amazing. I play the vod before I sleep, nice and relaxing music interspersed with a grenade blowing out my eardrums lol

Nuclear power seems like a must-do here once you get to bigs and behemoths.

Seeing the gigantic belt of coal, and seeing you not side load it hurt me, so much buffer coal for feeding some furnaces, but in the best way possible, thats the stuff i live for gj

Now you are starting to crest the hump of this playthrough. It's like in a professional project when there are less and less unknown unknowns.

One you get a steady flow of resources initially, i don't see why you can't ramp up to Megabase - just tap more biter bases. The risk just goes up.. :), It would take absolute ages, but it is possible.

furnaces next to slaughter miner gives me strong '42 vibes😅

Thanks for your work in those amazing series!

You should automatize steel and belts asap.
You can consider milking the uranium nest for a while and then destroying it so you can set up the oil comfortably. I think you can get in little time uranium enough for a while, (even for the whole playthrought?)

I do like that the mod is imbalanced and essentially exists as a joke mod because Mike is the perfect person to play it. He looks at something totally ridiculous and pulls a factory out of it anyway

Hey Mike at 15:00 you inadvertently negated the priority splitter on your buffer/bypass belt setup by doing that side loader into the right lane. Your boilers are loading from their closest lane which is the left, so your buffer will be feeding that lane instead of the buffer bypass belt which is feeding the wrong lane. Later on you can see the bottom-right buffer chests unloading even before the buffer fills up. It doesn't really affect anything right now, but it's just triggered my engineering OCD seeing the priority splitter/bypass system negated accidentally like that haha

Now I've got it, Mike "Handfeed" Hendi.

I recommend a train going around all outposts, to activate idle biters by an automatic ride.

Can we PLEASE see a belt box around the smaller iron mine and let the overflow fill it? It seems you're really worried about time and resources, but then build the single most labour intensive and belt-heavy mining setups possible with belts riiight up into the spawners where they will never collect anything once the system is running. If you're out of belts then collect the ones that are inside of the dead biter skeletons, but really you just need a box! It will be faster and less maintenance. Sure the startup time is slow, but if you let the lasers sit in advance like you had at copper they can "prime" the system for you ahead of time, and mining 3, 000 belts worth of iron with gun turrents *twice* was also extremely slow!

I know this playthrough is finished and done, but all that time setting up the belts around the iron mine could've been used to setup production, and a single circular belt would've been enough, given how much the ore spreads around on biter death. Filling the ground with belts seems wasteful and not really needed, whereas actually getting science and production going feels more impactful.

How do you show just the chunk grid lines without the tile grid?
