As we started this sequence of iconic gender bending hairstyles, their representatives and their influence on modern days we knew one thing for sure, we were gonna end with a completely shaven head As it ironically wil forever be the most powerful (anti) haircut…

Often a pivotal moment in movies when the main character either shaves his or her own head as a power move ór has it shaven by (often) oppressors as a form of disciplined conformity or punishment. Walter White becoming Heisenberg, Mickey Knox before his rampage in Natural Born Killers, Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta, the cadets in Full Metal Jacket and of course Demi Moore in G.I. Jane just to name a few.
People throughout history have shaved all or part of their heads for diverse reasons including aesthetics, convenience, culture, fashion, practicality, punishment, a rite of passage, religion, or style.

Completely shaving your head for the first time can be quite a rite of passage, often done as a cleansing or to close and or start a new chapter in life and honestly, when Roxy took my clippers to her head I got goosebumps, such a powerful move…

Took Batsie to my close friend and tebori master Yushi who picked this kanji for her and traditionally tattooed it on her crown, a very powerful part of the human body as it is considered the head chakra… Now, I have a dome tattoo too and I can assure you it’s not a walk in the park but Bats, tough as nails, took it without twitching a muscle.

Paul did an insane job on the makeup and I asked Jaff to dress Batsie as if she was ready for the red carpet, over the top feminine, but what I didn’t know (and this is why she’s THE BEST) is that she brought a tiara to crown THE QUEEN!! ♥️♥️

WELL… This was it, the end of the ICONS shoot, 10 looks and a love story, not bat, not bat at all…
