Same. When I was younger I saw the remake of spy kids and the little boy had hearing aids. I thought that was so cool I told my dad I wanted hearing aids because that kid had them. My dad told me “if you need hearing aids that means you lost most of your hearing. That’s not good.” I sat on the couch semi-happy but also a little sad I couldn’t have them. For the record, the actor that played the kid in spy kids that had hearing aids doesn’t even need them in real life.

I love my loop earplugs. I first wasn’t sure about them because I have hypersensitive hearing on top of noise sensitivity, and I could still hear a lot through the quietest ones they had available. However, I have noticed that they seem to be designed to primarily block the loudest noises, the noises that are painful (loud and/or high pitch noises, even the ones most people can’t hear), and just enough noise to stop me from sensory overloading in situations I normally would. I bring them quite literally everywhere, I attached a necklace to the case and will wear it under my shirt all day and can easily get to them when needed. I love them, even though they weren’t what I expected, and they do take a little bit of learning to properly put them in your ears, and take them out.
