Показать описание
To mark the 100th anniversary of James Joyce's Ulysses, Solas Nua in Washington D.C commissioned Liz Roche to make her US commission debut with her brand new original dance piece, Yes and Yes.
Yes and Yes journeys through the episodes of Ulysses, exploring the sensuality, absurdity, release and resignation of the book in movement with four extraordinary dancers and through film, sound and design. Dublin city today, and 100 years ago, serve as the heart and the backdrop of the piece, bringing this heady mix of ideas together.
The piece takes its title from the final episode of the book which both begins and ends with a “yes”. “. . .yes I said yes I will Yes”; the famous last words of the book, exclaimed by Molly Bloom, finally name the sense of surrender implied throughout.
Choreography: Liz Roche
Dancers: Sarah Cerneaux, Mufutau Yusuf, Diarmuid Armstrong and Grace Cuny
Music: Ray Harman
Stage and Costume Design: Katie Davenport
Lighting Design: Davison Scandrett
Film/Videography: José Miguel Jiménez
Dramaturgy: Wayne Jordan
