My 2 cents: this homage is better in almost every single way, except for perhaps brand heritage. It has a rock solid and reliable sweeping seiko quartz (that hacks), sapphire, titanium and a crown that's perfectly in line with 4, as opposed to a crappy archaic movement, which doesn't hack, handwind, and is loose like a spruce goose in terms of accuracy. Finally, at least there isn't that nasty BERNY printed anywhere on the dial. So don't worry, be happy mate 😁

All of the complaints are easily remedied. Don't like the bracelet? Bin it. Don't like the crown? Set the time twice a year and forget it - it's a time only watch ffs, how difficult can that be?

Put "Seiko" on the dial and all the complaints magically disappear... As proved by the last minute of the video with a recommendation for the original watch with the crap movement, mineral crystal and equally bad bracelet for twice the price. Make it make sense. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was surprised by your take on this. I have that watch with the blue dial. I put a blue nylon strap on it and it has served me well for the last several months. It is light and keeps excellent time - @5 seconds fast per MONTH. As others have already stated, it is a great everyday beater at a very wonderful price.

As others have also said, here in the US there are not the same types of taxes/duties so yes I only paid the stated price and for me it has been a terrific buy. If someone out there is looking for a dependable time piece with decent specs, then this could easily fill that need.

I bought a blue dial one. It's beautiful. Full titanium bracelet and the meca quartz movement makes it look like an automatic. I love the watch. And it looks great on a blue NATO too. Enjoy Jodie.

Let's keep in mind that the term "affordable" is relative. Especially right now. It's much easier to spend 50 bucks on a titanium sapphire for many people then it is 200 even if it is an automatic Seiko. But hey, jmo.

I have this watch and love it more than I want too. I can't quit wearing it, it's so comfortable and attractive as well. And for those that are curious, my links were easy to remove and my crown is not as hard to pull as Jody's - one thing you have to deal with on these cheap watches is inconsistencies with tolerances but most of the time they are great.

For me this is close to the perfect watch design. Thin, light, quartz, legible, no date, bead blasted, 20mm lug, flat saphire, 4 o'clock recessed crown, clean dial. If it was 40ish mm with decent water resistance and on a strap it would be hard not to buy it. I have the original Seiko in green, more than 10 years easy, and even though I have/had other fancier more expensive watches, it continues to be probably my favorite everyday wear.
Edit. Just saw the Sinn looking dial one on AliX. So tempted.

This exact Berny has been sitting in my Ali cart for a long time. This watch is WAY better than the Seiko! Unless you care about labels. Better metal, better crystal, way better movement! Well, maybe put it on a NATO though. Hmmm, why the hell haven't I bought it yet? 🤷🏽‍♂️

I have a variation of this, full lume dial, no logo. Purchased as a beater for less than £40. I had no problem with the bracelet. It does its job perfectly, about nine months in, worn when I'm doing anything messy which is quite often ( i live on a 100 year old converted barge). It does what I want perfectly.

Well, at $50, I'd say this one is worth a try even if you bung-up the bracelet and have to go with a band. The last two 'cheap' watches I've bought both have the VH31, and you know what? I've grown to love it, for these reasons; MORE ACCURATE- LESS TROUBLE- MUCH THINNER CASE- LIGHTER... and oh yeah, CHEAPER! I want to see more manufacturers use this movement, but not just in their 'cheapies', but also the ones more laden with features. Come on, give it to us!

Pretty harsh on this. The Seiko with the bracelet is nothing special for the price. This is everything you need from that watch and more. I don’t think that 7s movement is any kind of upgrade.
