I don’t get why some people are confused by this decision. If Colopinto does well it’s great for his career and for Williams. If Colopinto does poorly it’s pretty much what Williams had already expected from Logan to do in the last 9 races anyway

This replacement was in absolutely no way ruthless or brutal. It's been a long time coming. Logan has been incredibly fortunate to survive this long

Many of you miss the point, these crashes are costing a fortune, money that could be used on upgrades to improve the car, dumping Sargent will stop this, and the the new guy is in their academy so can learn and hopefully improve without endless crashes, Williams can benefit, Sargent just doesn’t have it, obviously time will tell, he started very sensible and took his time to learn a very complicated car, unlike the hotshot ??in the Mercedes.

As have many people pointed out, this change simply doesn't make any sense. Williams is replacing young driver with basically no experience with the same guy. He probably won't have stellar pace and will be down the grid, as Logan was, he won't be able to help develop the car because he is inexperienced and mainly he won't have any chance to drive full season in F1 until 2026. The only thing that makes sense for Williams is that he's much cheaper than other alternatives like Mick or Lawson

It was 100% unexpected to see Colapinto get a chance. But from what I read Colapinto was informed for his FP1 outing just a few days prior to it and he impressed the team a lot. Also some guy in some comment section rightfully noted that Williams will pay a lot for Sainz next year and trying to loan either Mick or Lawson would require a lot more money than bringing in Colapinto. Plus Colapinto has huge financial backing from Argentina, which means if he crashes a lot too they'll pay for the repairs. So it's a low risk but high reward move from Williams. He's definitely not a bad driver, but even if ge doesn't perform he'll not harm Williams financially.
