1- Heated arguments were witnessed between Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and LoP Yuri Alemao on Green Cess collection from companies handling coal and petroleum products. CM said that matter is before Supreme Court and that State has so far collected 50% cess of Rs 352 cr. Sawant said that balance will be recovered once Court decides the matter. He also informed that notices would be issued shortly. Alemao along with other Opposition MLAs demanded inquiry into alleged Green Cess scam. They said that House committee needs to be set up.
2-A wave of panic swept through the BITS Pilani campus in Sancoale on Friday morning after an anonymous bomb threat was received via email, triggering a massive security operation.
The email, sent around 11 AM, claimed that RDX had been planted in the campus auditorium, where a three-day program with students from across India was underway. Upon receiving the threat, the BITS Pilani management promptly alerted the police, who then called in multiple agencies, including the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, the fire brigade, and local police.
3- Goa Police has nabbed two tourists namely Faiz and Arkan Shaikh, both n/o Nashik- Maharashtra for allegedly assaulting a local car driver with fists and helmets at Sangolda. The police say that the incident occurred when the car collided with a bike.
4- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today assured that coal will never be transported via Konkan Railway route. Sawant said when Konkan railway started operation in Goa, there was opposition, but now same people are using it. He also said that MLAs who do not want new railway station in their constituency should give in writing.
5- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Salt pan survey is being undertaken by the Goa State Biodiversity Board which will be completed in six months. He said that only 20 salt pans are left and that government is exploring the industrial use of this salt. CM also said that government will notify all the salt pans to conserve and preserve them.
