Tip!!: Create an automated Shortcut that switches ON/OFF Low Power Mode every time you open battery draining app in question. In my case it's YouTube. It turns on when I open YT, and switches to normal mode when I leave YT

This doesn't fix any new battery drain. This just changes a few settings that work in any iOS version but don't suppress any new battery drain created by iOS 16 (if there even is any)

iOS 16.4 has totally fixed my battery life. I take it off the charge at 8am and it’s still at 75% at 9pm. That’s awesome.

Turning on Low Power mode will also cap the screen refresh rate to 60Hz which is a drastic visual change for Promotion capable iPhones

One thing that I double checked was what apps could send me notifications. If an app doesn’t really need to send me a notification I simply turned it off. It’s less hassle to me and even a potential battery drain. It’s just one more thing running around constantly in the background. WHO really wants to get a notification from a solitaire game in the middle of watching a movie after all. You try dismissing the notification only to get kicked out of your movie. That’s happened to me too many times.

I have found that Apple Carplay is a massive battery drainer. Also, turn off animation and Apps use Location services only when opening an app.

An obvious one is to use dark mode too. I would use the native email app if it wasn’t so awful in performance and features. Nice video, thanks!

Another advantage of using Apple Maps is it increases the number of users Apple can crowd source information from to create the most accurate and up-to-date status of traffic conditions where your are driving. This improves the quality of its recommendations for taking alternate routes in the case of an accidents, etc.

You pay a lot of money for your iPhone. Just use it as you want.. how it was intended to be. Of course turn off the settings you never use but use all the new features you bought it for! Worse case scenario.. get a new battery if capacity gets too low. People gotta get ova this battery ocd!

Turning off G5 will also save a lot of battery time. G4 is totally fine in most situations, and uses a lot less power.

I just discovered one thing about iOS 17 that might drain your battery. Double check after you’ve installed iOS 17 that it didn’t turn on Bluetooth by default. And it’s got a bad habit of randomly turning it back on. So randomly double check your settings that it didn’t get turned on. I rarely use Bluetooth myself so it stays off. I decided to go through my settings today to look for battery draining issues. And low and behold Bluetooth was on…

thanks for trying to help, but as you said in IOS15 it was fine, but this new IOS16.5 is terrible. My usage profile has not changed at all. there is a REAL ios 16.5 issue. Nothing that you showed should really make the dramatic change in battery life. Tried everything these videos speak of, restarted my phone, reloaded it from factory reset. turned off every possible thing I can find that might even have an influence on it. All back ground refresh is off, .

charging has also changed alot. I used to be able to put it on my wrieless charger and witin 20-30 minutes I had a 60-70% charge and I could go back to being MOBILE. This is not the case now, so not only does it drina the battery, but it wants me to take the entire might to charge it back up.

This phone is becoming a useless brick in my pocket way too much.

I’ve got a couple of questions about iOS 17. Are there new features that can drain your battery that didn’t exist in previous versions of iOS? Are there existing features that because of changes in iOS 17 can be a bigger battery drain?

After watching this video I have come across a suggestion to get my battery serviced because it’s now at 78% capacity

I will say I DON’T ALLOW ANY apps to use Bluetooth and I AM SADLY GUILTY of CLEARING my apps OUT of the app switcher EXCEPT my iMessage calculator and notes

I will likely be getting my battery serviced as well as my iPad due to unfortunately dropping my iPad on linoleum tile even with a screen protector there’s still some noticeable screen damage BUT NOT AS BAD screen damage

As for Background App Refresh I have that DISABLED IN FULL BUT SOME apps DO DO BACKGROUND ACTIVITY

Normal keep devices for five or more years, or until they die. Normal not about all the new features just want their iPhones to work, and KISS operation. Hate it when things change in the operation of the device.

That is why this normal would still like a home sensor/button. Also gives these old hands a place to hold the iPhone at the bottom of the screen on the device.
