The Twists and Turns Of Licensing Agreements

Josh Rifkin is an inventor who licensed his dog toy invention the Squeak and Throw Ball Launcher. In this interview with licensing expert Stephen Key, he describes his lengthy journey turning his product idea into a success story, including multiple licensing deals and a Kickstarter campaign. It's been worth the effort; the product is now in about a 1,000 stores! He also describes how he overcame prior art to obtain a utility patent for his Squeak and Throw Ball Launcher. Josh is a very creative guy. After visiting a lot of trade shows, he recognized a need in the market for trade show booth systems that require no tools and are packed flat — so he founded Flatworks Displays. Please note: Josh is not a student of the inventRight coaching program. He met Stephen through the inventors group in San Diego many years ago and kept in touch.

After trying to license my product for several months and having a lot of interest but no agreements, I decided to reach out to someone who had a similar product, who I am partnering with to launch my product this summer. I’m very excited. StickiPiggis.com and like us on Social Media! Thanks for all your advice InventrightTV for even getting me started!

Hi Stephen and Andrew!
I have an invention that you whould consider to be a "big idea", one that i think i can turn into a company so i need to patent it.
My question is, considering that i dont yet have the resources to patent the invention can i file a provisional patent aplication and start home producing and selling it and before the 1 year passes file the non provision patent aplication?
And if this is possible would you recommend it ?

Hello my name is ishmael, I’ve watched all of your videos and bought Both of Stevens books and followed all of you’re steps to this point, but in September I’ll be coming up to a year on my provisional patent in which I was missing a micro entity form and didn’t realize it, so now I have have to summit the micro form plus a $500 petitions for revival, but at the same time I have some interest from one of the biggest companies in the field, I’m kind of in stuck in-between should I just resubmit for a new provisional patent or should I pay $500 and keep the date then try to get the company to pay for the non provisional..is there anyway I can extend my provisional patent, I’d like to hear you opinion about my situation
