Are these the people we really want in charge of the most powerful technology on the planet? It’s embarrassing.

It’s an unbelievable conflict of interest for D’Angelo to be on the board. If things don’t get set straight, he’s going to get sued into oblivion. It doesn’t matter that OpenAI is a non-profit and he therefore has no fiduciary responsibility there, he has a *very* clear conflict of interest that makes him incapable of fulfilling his role as director.

Consider this: If he doesn’t do everything he can to torpedo OpenAI, he’s failing his fiduciary responsibility to the investors in Quora/Poe.

We need a new series of Silicon Valley. There is just too much material from the weekend OpenAI saga.

So did Microsoft just take over OpenAI without having to buy it?

I've worked in executive assistant to plenty of incompetent CEOS of whatever and none of this surprises me except how quick things are happening. Clearly their "leadership team" have serious, serious issues.

The thing is, even if Ilya had a change of heart, the fact remains he ousted Sam, so there will be a trust issue. You cant have someone like that back you or support your objectives and goals. Friendship, trust or any relationship they had is probably gone. Sad to see.

and that ladies and gentlemen is why we need llama 2 like open source models. So the worlds greatest tech doesn't get torpedoed by board room politics. F***ing hell.

OpenAI next best option is to go open source if they lose majority of the current talent. Go back to its original idea of being open and supported by community

The board's decision to take such a drastic measure, which came as a surprise, suggests that either (1) something is gravely wrong with Sam Altman, or (2) something is seriously amiss with the board itself. I believe the latter to be the case. For the board to take such a drastic action without considering the potential ramifications is a testament to their incompetence.

Can they just replace the Board with AGI now? Seems like it might be more successful at this point.

Turns out Ilya does not have the support that he thought he had, despite what ChatGPT had told him beforehand.

I'm worried about the current situation at OpenAI, led by young, seemingly inexperienced leaders struggling with internal issues. It's concerning that these advanced AI technologies are managed by such individuals. Their partnership with profit-driven Microsoft adds to the concern, raising questions about their commitment to humanity. Additionally, if there were serious issues with a key figure like Sam at OpenAI, why wasn't this disclosed to the public or employees?

I really thought that GPTs were very similar to bots in Poe. Now that makes a lot of sense.

How can I boycott Poe & Quora when I've never used them :(

If all this boils down to a conflict of interest...my God....the lawsuits are gonna fly!

AI as a threat to humanity can be scary but good thing is we know we're leaving it to prudent, ethical and transparent people. Nothing to worry about

The last image of the tweet is wrong but the tweet is real.

In addition, a merger would take some time between the two companies

Reminds me of when Apple had Eric Schmidt on the board during the iPhone launch and then Google quickly announced Android. That got Schmidt thrown off the Apple board and sent Steve Jobs into a rage where he swore to destroy Android as "a stolen product". It is really bizarre how often these conflicts of interest arise, but the Silicon Valley elite are a rather small set of executives that know all the same people and cooperate and compete all the time.

There’s no confusion. Ilya is back pedalling because his strategy massively backfired. He wouldn’t be regretful if there’d been a smaller backlash.

how did we have a board member with such big conflict of interest?
