I got seven appointments all day long
Ain’t got no time to write no song
Unless here over coffee I can come up with one
So today’s little ditty might get the gong
But you never know it’ll be a Friday night
And after some beers when I get home tonight
You just never know what I might write
Could be a dud but it could delight
Our ears to steer our perspective
Int o a better state of mind a better place to live
And I for one am determinative
To write the best dang song that I got to give

Well it’s a pressure cooker this festival
You gotta push on through like Percival
And sometimes like Prometheus you fall
With some chicken scratch and too much alcohol
Oh it could be a jingle, a ballad or some blues
Could be a country song about cowboy boots
It just don’t matter so long as it carries a tune
A song a day is all you got to do
But I gotta go now to one of my other jobs
I got so many sometimes I get into a fog
But this festival’s intended to blow your cob
Webs to weave some new thingamabob

So from the time I took my son to school at 8
I been runnin’ like chicken and now it’s quite late
I’m almost outta time with which to create
Somethin’ that rhymes, could be lousy or great
Well I don’t know you’ll be the judge of its fate
These songs might make you think or just entertain
The goal in any case is to stretch our brains
And more importantly your heart, they ain’t the same
To steer our every day perspective
Into a better state of mind therefore a better place to live
And I for one am dang determinative
To write the best dang song that I got to give

So no matter what

Write a song a day for the month of October
Come sing and play and then we’ll think it over
And come hear my new band on the first of November
