The Sonza Family makeover is in full swing! The living room was a space I was most excited to transform. Creating the large framed mural and updating the fireplace made such a big impact. Both DIYs were simple and budget friendly too! I personally loved the kitchen but wanted to refresh the cabinets with a darker stain, adding new hardware and some décor elements made such a difference. Since the Sonza Family mentioned how much they entertained, I wanted to make sure the dining room + living room had ample seating for guests. Also, making sure the flow from room to room felt airy and inviting for when guests/family members came over! Slowly but surely the spaces started coming together and I couldn’t be more nervous for the big reveal!! Fingers crossed the warehousing company finds the couch…

Hi Lone Fox Family! We watched the video with family yesterday at my aunt's place for Thanksgiving! We loved all the thought and care Drew put into every aspect of the living room, kitchen, dining area, and breakfast nook. The popcorn ceiling removal alone was crazy to see since we weren't in the home for the aftermath. I can't imagine having done this ourselves with an abatement team, only to find out we have to reapply material in order to have it painted on! That is a cost we would not even be ready for, most likely we'd have to live with that ceiling for a few weeks before we could put together the money to repair it for painting.

Everything in the living room and play room space is easily adjustable so we can create a safe space for Julia during the day and rearrange it quickly for guests. We have gates of our own and Drew was kind enough to inform us he ordered additional gates for our daughter to safely play around in the corner. I work from home and my job isn't too intensive, so it's easy for me to set my laptop in the play place with Julia while she has fun with her toys while being supervised.

My wife and I are so humbled to be a part of this process! Every single time we will look at that beautiful mural we'll always say to one another "Can you believe Drew and Justin put that together?" and when we are just chatting and eating breakfast at our little nook, we can admire the fixture Drew went out of his way to create for us, especially in the evenings when we're just sitting there sipping on hot chocolate with the light on.

Jennifer actually was in the process of staining the kitchen cabinets a similar color to what Drew was doing. She worked on a small area of one of the cabinets just to see if she was doing it correctly and took a break. The next day before she was going to resume work, we actually found out that Drew selected us for the makeover! So we are happy with the choice Drew selected for the cabinets since it matched the color we were going for.

We can't wait to see what you have in store for the rooms! I'm of course super excited to see how you went about the office/guest bedroom since it will be my primary space for working, especially once Julia goes to preschool (for now I just work inside of the play pen)! I remember asking you to do something special for Jennifer in regards to the vanity, she's been without one for ten years and I loved that our master bedroom had a space for a proper vanity for her. She really deserves a relaxing space to get ready, I know you'll make it extra special for her!

We can't wait for Episode 3 Drew, I need to figure out a way to save these videos on my hard drive! I guess we need to subscribe to YouTube premium? Thanks for watching the video Lone Fox Family and we appreciate and have read all the comments!

Everything literally gorgeous! My only preference would be turning the dining table the other way. In my experience it's not ideal that half of the guests at the table have light from the window on their face and the other side is in "darkness". Just my own preference 🤗

I love everything except the kitchen cabinets. I've had splotchy stained wood cabinets before & found myself regretting my choice in short order. I ended sanding them all down and applying a wood conditioner before re-staining. Other than that I love everything you did. What you did to the fireplace was brilliant.

Hi Drew, I can’t compare myself to your ability, and I love most of what you’ve done but I’m not in love with the kitchen. I don’t like the uneven stain on the cabinets and I think it looks too dark especially with the darker tile.
Otherwise, I love some of the free finds you incorporated in this makeover! I especially like the mirror and how perfectly it goes with the entry table. Can’t wait to see the finished look!! Looking forward to number three!
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Just wow!!!
I love the way this makeover is being edited. You see what's being done and some of the things that are going to be used, then he just segways into the next room. 👌🏽

P.S OH MY GUCCI THAT MURAL🥰

Very good video on several levels - VERY GOOD STORY LINE, editing and lighting, the instruction of how-to-do this, and finally- your adaptability to handle problems and set-backs . Yes so much chaos ( asbestos, no couch, missing paneling) would knock most designer's off their game BUT Drew just shines with his positive attitude.

Beautiful! Super happy you decided on the round coffee table because of the baby! You did so much hard work, well, your crew too!! The mural is amazing!! Had to add….I wish you were my son, handsome and talented!😉

The editing style now really reflects you. The way your mind needs to trial and error. Explore options and make decisions. It’s so true to the design process! ❤

Oh Drew. I taught preschool. Lol. Goldilocks tried the porridge first. Big bowl, too hot, medium bowl too cold, little bowl just right so she ate it all up. Next came the chairs. Big? Too hard. Middle? Too soft. Little chair? Just right but it broke into lots of pieces. She went upstairs. 3 beds… Big, too hard, middle too soft. Little bed was just right. All comfy and cozy. She fell asleep. You know the rest. Lol. I’m loving this house. I can’t wait for them to see it.

My only comment about some of the styling elements in the living room is that the blanket ladder, and tall narrow floor lamp and woven vase will be a hazard once the baby becomes more mobile. They’d all be pushed over very easily. Everything that could topple over should be anchored to the wall, and if that’s not possible, then alternatives that are not as easy to push over should be chosen instead. Advice from this momma of 3 boys.

You have a very organic way of editing your decisions, and you talk your audience through the decisions you make. I appreciate it. It separates you from the pack of 'designers'. You're choices are very smart-- you have the touch that can't be taught. Congrats, Drew.

I’m not sure I like how this is turning out since there is a small baby in the house and they mentioned wanting a bright and airy look. I love some of the elements though such as curtains and rugs, but the furniture I’m not 100% set. Maybe because the project had such a short deadline and most of the items were from Wayfair, not sure. A tip when staining/spray painting always wear a respirator, when you were spray painting you needed a higher grade mask, and when staining sometimes stain applies blotchy like with the cabinets, if you condition the wood prior to applying the stain it can minimize the blotchy uneven parts a lot and it looks so much better. My comment is not to throw shade at all, I love your channel, your work is inspirational. 💕

I LOVE the mural idea as artwork! And the scene is so peaceful but modern with the black and white print. Maybe next time just build the frame out on the floor with mitered corners and attach with sturdy frame hangers in the top. You can use museum putty to seal the sides and bottom to the wall. This will be brutal to change out some day because there are so many nails and they have to fill in and repair the drywall and paint now. Just a thought ;)

OMG, Drew I’ve been following you since you made scrapbook tutorials, when you moved to LA, when you decorated your first apartment, when you started fashion pictures of you, and now…..goodness me!! Oh boy you really have found the perfect work for you, you are like a magician, whatever you do, is pure magic, inspirational. Nice guy, hardworker, fun, charming, from Barcelona lots of 😘 ❤

Great work on the living room Drew!

As Decorators we’ve all made mistakes. The kitchen cabinets and hardware aren’t good. Dark, imposing and splotchy.

It would be incredible if your agent could get SW or BM to sponsor a redo.
Lighter paint would make such a difference for the family.

And a washable rectangle rug for the baby space vs the round one taped down.
