The Ethics Institute at Dartmouth College presents the
Roger S. Aaron '64 TU'65 Distinguished Lecture on Ethics in Law and Business: Conflicts of Interest and the Constitution, given by Richard Painter, the S. Walter Richey Professor of Corporate Law at the University of Minnesota.

Richard W. Painter is an American lawyer at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. He was the chief White House ethics lawyer in the George W. Bush administration from 2005–2007. He is the vice-chairman of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). Since January 2017, he has been involved in the CREW lawsuit against President Donald Trump (CREW v. Trump). The suit alleges that Trump is in violation of the U.S. Constitution's emoluments clause, due to his refusal to sell assets and put others in a blind trust.

Recorded November 6, 2017 at Dartmouth College.

Love him or hate him... Painter is by far one of the smartest lawyers by far in the country. Tell me you wouldn't want him representing you in a court case? He will DESTROY you in court. Other lawyers get scared if they know he's in the room. Guy is an OG. Love him or hate him... the guy is smarter than your lawyer hands down

Alexander Hamilton had it right. He didn't want private banks and thus he proposed a National Bank instead. His idea for whatever reason fell out of favor in the years that followed but we should probably take a second look at it for there might be the solution to the problem; after all it is not a private product the banks deal with. To put it another way: the banks don't print the money, the government does.

Listening to him go after Trump for a financial conflict of interest is fucking laughable. What about all the people in congress that have a financial interest voting for or against certain things. think big pharma or Unions. they give tons of money to congressmen or any other lobbyist. This guy is blinded by his hatred of trump.
